Heh, depends how fast you are going when you ollie.
You need enough ollie distance to clear the stair to the bottom, so you can ollie less if you're going faster! I saw a video a while ago on here of someone clearing a 4 or 5 set without ollieing at ALL!

You actually don't need to ollie at all to do small stair sets. I used to clear 4 back in the 70s, and Torger Johnson could do 7. Oliieing just makes the small sets easier, but you'll need to ollie to do the large ones...
