Well there is a lot of choices out there. What kind of length are you thinking? Standard 32" or more like a 38"- 40", or maybe somewhere in between like a 35"? What kind of parks/bowls are you going to be riding? Are the tranny's really steep or mellow? The steeper/tighter they are then generally a smaller board is easier. Bigger, wide open parks are pretty accomadating to longer boards most the time.

I started longboarding before I got into park, so I feel a lot more confident on a longer wheelbase boards, I use a old Comet 40" for most things. For mini ramps and stuff I use a Comet POP 35". I'm looking to get a Cold War 38" Openheimer Stage III, kind of an in between of the two pool decks I have now.

I dig Indy trucks, and I usually ride 149's. But again, the width depends on your preference and board width. Ditch the stock bushings and get some Bones Hardcore Mediums.

Powell bowl bombers seem like a Northwest staple, are nice and fast yet grippy. I swear by em'. Although you will probably need at least 1/4 riser for a wheel that size (64mm). They come in a 95a and a park formula. The 95a is good for learning cause you can trust it a little more, but its slow and takes a lot more energy to get speed/pump on concrete. Although its a little grippier on wood or Masonite.

All that being said, you asked what the best pool board is, so heres what I think it is. It just happens to be the setup I want.

Cold war skates Oppenheimer stage III

Cowboy Punk 61mm black plauge wheels

Indy 149's (maybe 169's?)

1/8th inch risers and some Rock'n Rons bearings.

IMO

Most of my riding is done on a Gravity BE40 with Indy 169's and Rainskates Tsunamis. But in our local skatepark bowls I am more comfortable in a somewhat shorter wider deck. I dig the Pool King Pool Pirate at 10.25x34.5, Indy 215's, Rainskates Stingers. I do ride the the BE40 occasionally in the bowls, but I prefer it on the streets banks and ditches.
If you have friendly riders at your local park, ask to trade boards for a run. I did this and was able try several set ups before I found a deck size and wheel hardness that worked for me. It eliminated much trial and error and needless $....

I like a right hand kidney...oh you mean board...

well I've had the above mentioned Oppenheimer I found it too long for real pools but comfortable in parks, very well made board though it ended up as my slide deck. Right now I'm rolling a Gravity PS35 on Ace55's and OJIII's I think my next board is going to be a Coldwar Naked Raygun...

Hard to say what the "best" is for you. I do think when it comes
to wheels - the Rainskates will do the job very well. Hard and fast.

Also, they resist flatspotting much better than most wheels.

if you are actually going to be skating pools and parks I wouldn't use either one of those wheels. Try Powell SPF's or Rockin Ron's BHF's, if on the other hand you really want to run an old school setup using those wheels then a 149 truck would be a smarter setup for a 9" wide board

Deckcrafter Blood Diamond 9 8/8" Ace55's, RnR 56mm BlackHoles, Speedy Lunatics. Khiro Bushings and shock risers, Indy hardware
