Deck tapering affecting truck width?

So I'm looking at a deck that is about 9.5inches in the front, but tapers to about 8.75inches in the back, is that going to affect truck choice at all? I figure indy 169's would be decent width, except in the rear the wheels would be sticking out some. Does that matter or just purely preference?

I can't think of too many pin tails where the rear wheels don't protrude. I suppose it's mostly dependent on where the rear truck is mounted. The flex in a pintail is often centered rear of center, that flex effectively wedges the rear truck during a hard carve, so the less leverage you have over the rear truck is balanced .

I think I'd go with the 169's. Go too narrow in the front and things may get a bit tippy feeling

It sounds like the same size as my Powell Cab street Re-issue, I think its 9.625
at the wide point and matches your tail size. I have Indy 169's with 62MM
Rainskates Stingers, they fit great, not too wide, not too narrow.

not true many truck company's offer trucks with different widths just look at bennett revenge paris gullwing indy ace...just to name a few
