so sorry for the semi thread jack but i was searching and i found this thread.

i was wondering if there were any major differences in the board mentioned in this thread (the blue cab w/ mechanical dragon) and the eastbilt knox shown here

    Old School

i see some slight dimensional differences but are they essentially the same board?

    thanks!

They are somewhat similar however, the Cab is 10X31 and
even a 1/4 inch can make a difference to some, certainly
one inch on both the width and the length, will make these
    two different boards.

That being said, the price is much more attractive on the Knox
and my guess is the concave is a little deeper. Depends
    on what you like.

Yeah I agree with Hot Wheels, and it looks like the Knox is modeled after the style of Powell boards in the early 90s (deeper concave, double kick), but I've never seen the Knox in person so I'm just going off the pic.

I love the Cab in the bowl, it feels nice and wide (aka stable) under my feet but I really like the concave of the K-15 decks (and the double kick). I'm not a young guy any more so I don't really rip like I used to but I can feel a difference between the boards...and I like both.

The best thing to do is maybe see if someone has a SPN2 Cab style and a K-15 style (which looks like the Knox to me at least) and try them out in the bowl and park to feel for a difference. Some skate shops (my local one at least) has demo decks that you can try (and mine has a ramp in the store so you can really feel different styles). Maybe try that and se if they'll let you try boards that are similar to the ones you want to try?

    Good luck!

If someone gets that knox board please let us know what the concave is like. Much appreciation.

To answer your question, yeah... these old powell peralta boards are big hulking flexless monster planks with no give and no forgiveness what-so-ever... that being said...they are fun as hell.

I ride an old powell peralta Frankie Hill board with the bulldog graphic sitting on top of a red stain. Its not a reissue, and I have NEVER seen another Frankie board with the red stain, all the other ones that I have seen have had black or white paint. (just a little fun fact)

These boards WILL last forever if you don't go out with the notion of just thrashing it to death... just treat it right and it will last forever... Mine has been rockin for YEARS and I put "years" in all caps because I don't just mean years.... I mean YEARS!!!

Wanted to bump and old thread and see if anyone is riding the reissues now that Powell Classic is history and all boards are being sold under the Powell & Peralta name (again).

I love looking at these boards over on Skate One, so many good memories of my youth. I am so glad to see Cab still skates. Much respect to the man for doing it right his whole career. I have been eyeing one of his boards for awhile and recently have turned my sites on this one...

I am moving to a place in a couple weeks that has no access to a skate park, so that would not be the primary use but it would be nice if it could handle that at some point. I just think it would make a cool mini cruiser set up with 169s and Old Skools. If set up right would it be a good carver or too wide/ stiff???

I don't see why not, that one especially has a good shape for sliding. Nice nose, with plenty of foot room.

    Cool Re: powell peralta caballero

Pangaea - I have a few Powell boards (too many). I was at the park today on
my Caballero. Mine is just like your silver one only green with no
stinger tail, same graphic and overall shape.

Personally, I really dig this board, mine is set up sweet with Tracker Six Tracks and the
Black reissue Gyro wheels with swiss bearings.

I don't know how much of a carver it would be, I am used to my Dervish for
that, however it is a lot of fun for street cruising, curbs. Any other Q's let me
    know.

Thanks HW, I appreciate the info. I really need to just get this board, as I have been wanting one for some time. So you like it in the park? How does it handle without a more modern (larger) nose?

Like I said earlier my park days will be limited in the near future without one nearby but I do travel and it would be nice to have a board I could take into a park if I find one. But realistically it will be used more as a curb jumper/ ditch board and all around street transport.

Personally, I really enjoy it in the skate park, this one and my other Powell
re-issues are ridden frequently. I do not ride/have a popsicle board (tried it
many times but) they just don't feel right to me at least.

The nose thing really does not bother me MOST of the time, because I am
not used to one. Every now an then on vert my front foot will slip across the
top a little and that is scary.

If you ever want to take a road trip to St. Louis, we have a nice skatepark
in O Fallon, we could hook up and I could introduce you to the St. Louis Skate
    Cartel members.

i have a Cab red Chinsese Dragon Re-issue that i got a couple of days ago and i love it.
yeah it has no proper nose but you can still do nose manuals n stuff on it, just not nollies and such tricks.
Fun Fact about me: Ive never ollied properly in my life, and the first time i tried ollieing on my cab board i nailed it with a decent beginner height, and did not find it akward at all. But then again, ive always found the newschool boards way too thin for my taste.
wich i gre up in the 80's skating era, and not in the late 90's and out xD
