earthwing bigfoot or gravity pool 36
i've decided i need a new park board and i want to support either gravity or earthwing. these boards seem pretty similar except the bigfoot is .75" wider, and i'm sure i'd love both, but which would you recommend for skating transition?
i have size 12 feet, 6'4 and i'm used to skating 8" popsickles in the park. however since i've been longboarding i've gotten used to a wider/longer boards and want my next park board to reflect that. i want to retire my brad edwards for carving only and get something a little shorter.
i've looked at the Corchia deck too, but like the gravity and bigfoot better for some reason.

Re: earthwing bigfoot or gravity pool 36
I got a Bigfoot for sliding, I've thought about hitting up the park when I get some wheels that aren't Slide As (downright scary). A couple caveats, the bigfoot is a tank. It is built like a brick shithouse, and it uses Indy 219s, which are pretty heavy themselves. Also, the wide trucks might be a little sketchy on the coping. Anyway, the deck itself is like 3 or 4 pounds, but I don't know about the gravity. The Bigfoot does have some killer concave and plenty of foot space, though. The nose and tail are asymmetric, with the nose slightly bigger than the tail.`

Re: earthwing bigfoot or gravity pool 36
yep, im sold on the pool 36. a 10" wide board (the bigfoot) sounded cool until i considered grinding coping with indy 215's.
gravity sets them up with 149 trucks, i think i might go 169? anyone have an opinon on that?

Of course I have an opinion on that
A few weeks back I got a set of Indy 169`s for a 9" board, so I`d say 169`s would rock on the Pool 36.
The 169`s is just amazing, they feel great. Feed them some Bones Hardcore bushings and you are all set.

Re: earthwing bigfoot or gravity pool 36
Man, I was riding a Bigfoot until about a month ago, it was a killer board. I rode it mostly out at lansdowne which, if anyone is not familiar, is a big old skatepark here in Maryland. Pretty mellow runs, lots of carving, not so smooth concrete (compared to newer parks).
Was running it with 215's and bones 85a. It was a really killer setup.
Unfortunately someone smashed out the back window of my jeep and stole it. Now I'm looking to replace it and will be ordering something new over the next couple of days.
I was pretty well set on the EW Crewzer - but part of me was wondering if it might be just a little too long. I figured it would do just fine out at Lansdowne, on the street, and in ditches - but I worried about riding it on ramps. Not really worried, but you know, 38 inches just seemed maybe just a little too big.
I'm stoked on Earthwing and would like to support them, but I have to be honest when I say that the grvaity 36 is looking really tasty right about now. The 35 as well.
Decisions decisions.

Yeah, I thought about the Earthwing Crewzer also; but, settled on the Gravity Pool 36. Glad I did, the Pool 36 is freaking huge, I think the Crewzer would have been too big for my current riding style. Taking the 36 out for its first real session today.

Good stuff man, rip it up!
Yeah, you know I don't really think of myself as a long boarder, I started riding in the early 80's then stopped about 10 years ago. Just started up again less than a year ago and the first thing I realized was that there was no way I was going to be able to ride one of these little "Popsicle" boards.
I had no idea what was out there really, so I looked into longboards and found this site with all of these crazy cats here on silver fish riding these big crazy boards and was like - thank god man.
So for me, I really came up riding parks, ditches, ramps and street. No technical skating, just more of an old school flavor, cruising, carving, grinding and speed. TA, Duane Peters etc. were old school when I was coming up and those guys were who we looked up to. So I'm more into the "traditional" style skateboards, I just like a larger board.
I found myself at the end digging the new school cut but not digging the new school size, so these big pool boards really are a god send.
So yeah man, I think I am probably going to pass on the crewzer for now and I'm definitely leaning towards one of the Gravity Pool boards. I was checking out the EW Corchia but the Gravity's give a little more width. I'm thinking down the road it would be cool to get a Crewzer, but I think something in the 35-36" rage would serve better as an all around for the type of riding I like to do.
Post back about our session if you don't mind, would like to hear your thoughts. I'll probably be ordering my new ride tomorrow or the day after.
Peace and enjoy your session!

Re: earthwing bigfoot or gravity pool 36
Ran the pool 36 at the park for a couple of hours today, I love it. Its a great big safety net for not looping out, it ran real fast. Did bowls, grinds, drops, and small transfers, ran on 59mm, 100a Rainskates, Indy 169's. Its not as wide as you might think, it tapers toward the tails, its definitely long though, but for a park newbie like me its a real chill set-up. The final test was I let some of the newb kids ride it and they loved it as well (I am not sure the advanced fippy set would care for it, though).

I ride a Gravity Be40 and previously had a Gravity c39, I mostly skate the bowls at the local park but go up to Lansdowne whenever I have the time. the BE40 and the C39 are really great boards for Lansdowne they are also great in bowls really any kind of transition. They are great all around boards but especially good for Lansdowne.
what kind of bones 85a did you ride at lansdowne? I've tried a number of wheels there and can't get it right. The best I've come up with are rainskates 65mm 85a tsunami's but they drift a bit too much for me. It tried bones dtf but they rattle and are a bit too hard.

Re: earthwing bigfoot or gravity pool 36
Whay not a Drifter? Just curious, I was trying to decide between a P35, P36, Drifter or Corchia and ended up getting a Drifter because I think Earthwing rocks and because it was a killer deal. I have not ridden it that much yet but the quality is tops.

Hey man - I was running the ratbones 60mm 85a at lansdowne. They ran super grippy and smooth. I had a set of earthwing slide wheels I threw on just to see how they felt and that was the only run I used them for. They were just too hard for the surface.
The ratbones are grippy, smooth and fast. Maybe too grippy depending on your style. Definitely a b!tch to slide. But they were perfect for me, "back in the day" I used to run harder wheels at Lansdowne, but I also used to slide a lot and knew the park like the back of my hand -
but now, having taken a 10 year hiatus I'm not quite as competent a rider as I used to be - definitely some sketch factor going on as I get back into it, so I really needed something like the ratbones that I could cruise on but didn't have to worry about sliding out on if I took a turn too hard or whatever.
You should try them out. I think I might get another set when I order my new deck.

Drifter definitely looks hot. I dig Earthwing and loved my Bigfoot for sure, but for me I think I'd like to get something in the 36" range.
Also, and this is just me, but I really liked the experience I had with Longboardskater.com - and they have a nice deal on the gravity completes, both the 35 and the 36 with indy 169's and powell bowlriders 95a for $146 and $143 respectively.
Another $40 and I can get a spare set of ratbones 85a with bearings and cruise out of the whole deal for under $200 with a pretty functional all around setup.
I definitely dug my Earthwing, and it seems like the type of company I'd like very much to get behind and support. And eventually I will get another Earthwing for sure. I still really want a crewzer and want to get a supercharger one day as well, but for now I'm trying to maximize bang for the buck - especially considering I have to get helmet and pads again as well (thieves took ALL of my gear).
But yeah, that's me. I had a really positive experience with my Earthwing and will definitely buy their stuff again, but right now I'm defo leaning towards one of the Gravity pool boards.
