Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
After going back and forth on quite a few options for a park board- I found enough good info on the fish to grab a CW park bomb III (regular version, not the mini). But now I am struggling with the setup. Because of the shape of the board (Wide is 9.5 but it dips down to 8.7 in the rear) I am having trouble picking out which trucks and wheels to use. Would like to hear what others have been using on the board. Specifically what size trucks and what kind (size & duro) of wheels. And while there is a lot of people recommending these boards on the Fish, search function did not find a lot of setup recommendations. Thanks...

Re: Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
I have a park bomb mini that I set up with
149 indys and 60mm Rockin Ron's BFH. I can take pictures of my set up for sake of comparison later tonight.
I would think 169 indys would be the way to go on the full size park bomb. Depending on how it would fit would become a factor on whither to go with a wider wheel like rainskates, speedlab IPS, ect. Or a narrower wheel like the BFH's

Re: Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
I have a Parkbomb with Indy 169s and minilogo s-1 60mm wheels. Though the minilogos werent what i was looking for in a park wheel so i am going to upgrade to powell bowl bombers next.

Re: Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
Thanks for replies, are the Rainskates a wide wheel I was looking for something on the wider side. How do you guys like the board?
Right now I am leaning towards Indy 169s and either Rat Bones or Rainskates (Tsunamis).

Re: Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
They are a bit on the wider side compared to the BFH'es I have which I find to be wider than your typical street wheel. From their site the 59mm stinger II's have a 38mm contact patch and the 62mm's have a 40mm contact patch

Rainskates are amazing wheels, so fast. You'll love them.

Re: Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
Just a heads up from surfing the web for deals to put this together I found the following...
...and if you combine or pay over $25 you get free shipping. 35 for rat bones and reds is a pretty killer deal.
Also found rainskates for 29 on Socal
Rain Skates Orange Tsunamis 65mm 85a
They were 44 other places.
Anyway just wanted to pass along.

Re: Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
For park wheels, if you want speed, the Rainskates will
be much faster than the Rat Bones (even the 97A ones).
I still like the Rat Bones because of the old school shape,
but the Rainskates Stingers 100A or the Yellow Jackets 98A will
be much faster. 62MM should do the trick.

All great calls, thanks. I am gonna go with the rat bones for now, as the deal on Amazon was too good to pass up. A slower wheel in the park starting out is probably for the best, but the rainskates are def. on my radar in the future. Def. switch out the bushings for bones, already ordered but I am going to go with the harder black ones as the yellow ones work great on longboards for my weight but I want something stiffer for this ride.
Thanks again!!

What kind of parks will you be riding(wood or cement) Also the black bones hardcores should be good depending on your weight and how loose you want them.(I use them and I weigh 230) The tsunami's look like a great wheel for both surfaces.(A bit slower on cement then the stingers will be but, they should have much better grip on wood) I just ride cement myself and I am still green but, that is me after all.
Also with a wheel in the 60mm range I recommend using a 1/4" riser. You could get by with a 1/8" riser but, wheel bite can occur.

Mostly this horrible cement/ skatelite park in town. But I am probably moving in the next 5-6 months so who knows. Its really not a great park at all and is also my first so it will be interesting. I will probably try to find some ditches as well.

If you come into the St. Louis area PM me and we
can hook up at our skatepark, some great skaters out there.

Late contribution to the thread:
My Park Bomb III has Indy 169s, Bones Hardcores (hard) and DTFs.
I am really not feeling the DTFs these days, and am mulling a switch; those 62mm 98a Yellowjackets sounds pretty hot.

Well it turns out getting a Park Bomb is harder than I thought these days. I had to cancel my order with DBS because they no longer have them in stock and were not sure if they ever would again. I contacted Cold War directly and I may now be getting an Oppenheimer instead. The good news is my setup should be fine on the Oppenheimer, dimensions are different but should still work. I am a little hesitant about jumping into a park with a 38 inch board. But I am much more comfortable on a longer board so maybe it will hold true in the park.

Another shop that should have the full size park bomb is Cal's skate in Portland.
Their website is Cal Skate Skateboards

^ Checked there. If you put it in your cart it shows up as not in stock. Thanks though. I tried all of CW's vendors.

Re: Post Your Cold War Park Bomb Set Up!!
Why can't you just buy the full size park bomb from the coldwar website directly?
Cold War Skateboards: Decks
I plan on picking one up and setting it up with the indy 169's and rainskates I've already got. Using it to replace my corchia with it's lack of adequate concave. can't wait.
