Yes, where I'm always parked sipping suds and watching life. First three are in a bed beside the driveway. Second two were laying in the driveway near my feet. I did have to get up and walk to the side yard to get the fungus shots though.

I haven't posted here in a while so I figured I would post some of photos from the other night at the Avett Brother's concert in Charlotte. They are an amazing band if you haven't heard of them. I'll just post a few. Check out my flickr if you want to see more. Flickr: getitrightsteve's Photostream

I thought I would share... I am really amused by the reviews on lenses I am reading. I was browsing Amazon, because I am thinking about grabbing a 50mm prime for my D40.. and people are actually commenting on how "You can't zoom with this lens, you actually have to move your feet around!" Maybe I'm an asshole, but geez, talk about spoiled. I thought you had to move around with any lens... Ha.

Now, some shots where I moved my feet around and got kinda close to a few people.

    I'm all over that set!

lens reviews make me cringe too... can't zoom maybe they needed one that snaked around and shot angles like the house exploring eye in War of The Worlds.

    Haha that would be awesome.

Million dollar question: pay the extra money to get a lens that will work with the D40 light meter or not?

The new Nikon 50mm 1.8 lens will *not* AF on the D40.So I could spend 1/3 of the price on an older E-series manual focus lens or spend all that extra just to get the automatic metering that I rarely use. (Especially since I am about to jump on a handheld meter). Hmmm....

Vertigo, I've got the 50mm f/1.8. Fantastic lens, I use it more than any other lens. I hardly notice that I cant use the AF feature.

I got mine off ebay for $60. Worth it!

I may, I had seen some very skewed prices until I realized it wasn't that expensive. (I really should stop looking at all these fancy things and worry about getting stuff I need first, like more film haha).

Thanks TM, and getitrightsteve, I forgot to mention that I really like your shots.

I prefer the BW shot. Though not because its BW. The BW shot looks more soulful. And I LOVE her large eyes...

These are great! The second shot of the blond girl is kinda weird to me, because she looks so much like a girl I used to date many years ago it's uncanny, spitting image, looks just like her.

Zoom lenses are great if you shoot on assignment, but primes tend to be sharper. Looks like you're doing great with the 50 1.8, save a little money and get yourself a 1.4 and you'll be even happier.

It's been a while since I got real creative. I spend my days taking photos so it's sometimes hard to shoot for myself.
Shot this kid at the local park, he's been progressing since he started, and he's cool with us old school guys:

Someone mentioned hdr. I shot this when I attended a wedding. It was unusual being at one of these things and not working:

This was shot for work. This guy was one of the leaders of the voting rights march here in Alabama. In 1963 he was beaten by state troopers with clubs for leading a march across this bridge. He told me the whole story as I walked over the bridge with him, really cool guy:

For those shots... Hehe, actually a 50mm f2. Minolta yeah baby. Still missing the Pentax...

That kid looks like he rips! Neat shot.
