the autofocus to manual focus is different on that lens, you have to push/pull the very front gripped piece to switch into AF/MF
i got a .20X HDfx Opteka fisheye lens to fit a 52, 55, 58mm thread!

Re: official photography thread
I got a Nikon D3000, with a Nikon 18-55 f/3.5-5.6G lens and a Nikon 55-200mm f/4-5.6G lens.
There's a local race tomorrow that I'll be taking pictures at whenever I'm just sitting around, which lens would be better for skating pictures?

Re: official photography thread
I'd definitely go with the 18-55. You should be close enough and the f/3.5 is a nice aperture to sit yourself in.

Re: official photography thread
I would just like to say while I have nothing to contribute that I really dig this thread. I shoot a lot of video and see the two formats merging in terms of quality, so while I learn the nuances of the HDR SR-12's touchscreen focusing, I may have a bit more to check out here and widen my horizons.

Stoked cause I got a (Holga) wide angle pinhole. I am not a big fan of Holgas, but it's sweet. Excited to try it out.

Unless he wants to take pictures from a distance....for example, a platform (like a large boulder or rock) above the level of the street and far away enough that would allow for a sort of eagle eye shot...

This was taken with a 75-300mm lens.
...but if you are close to the skating then the 18-55 for sure...Shiyuchi, you should take both lenses and experiment, see what you like.

i wouldnt spend money on the lens itself. you should buy an attachment lens/auxilary lens.
i just got a decent fisheye lens for christmas.
what is the opening on your lens?....the one i got had adapter rings for 52, 55, and 58mm
