Thanks. The macro shots were taken with a point and shoot camera, the studio shots were with a Nikon D2X.

Re: official photography thread
Agreed, the Macro shots were sweet. Those dog pics were awesome too! It's sad to hear about putting her down, but at least you have the memories. Wells, I'm digging those shots, people are not my strong point so I am sort of jealous.

color explosion. Like this shot a lot!
It's funny the difference between other people's photos that I'm drawn to and the photos I take myself/
If you look at my deviantart you'll see so many of my favorites are summery and colorful, but I just don't know how to take that sort of picture haha
Thanks for the attention anyway. I wish I knew what to actually do with these photos other than just take them. Thinking of going back to university and doing an MA in fine-art photography, then go into teaching. That way I can carry on doing what I do and not worry about time or money haha

I live in Wales which is a part of the UK which used to have a thriving coal industry, a lot of the places I visit are related to that industry in some respects. There are loads of industrial sites left abandoned, quarries and mines. There are sanatoriums, asylums and hospitals which were built at the end of the C19th or early C20th to service these communities, or simply built with money from the coal industry. They have since been closed down and no one has found a use for them. Mostly these sites are open to anyone stupid or brave enough to climb in and they are very popular with photographers and vandals alike. These hospitals are quickly disappearing though so we go to document them whilst we can.
Unfortunately we weren't able to get into the plant in the picture you've quoted because we met the security guard and his HUGE German Shepard first. He said he could let us in, but he wouldn't let us go in alone, and he wasn't going to go in without his dog, and he's the only person the dog's trained not to attack, so it wasn't really going to work. At first we thought he was joking and tried harder to let us in, but then he explained that the reason he needs the dog is people break into the plant to steal copper and lead. He showed us the knifes, machetes and ice pick he'd been attacked with and we agreed it was probably a bad idea. I've since met someone who claims to have been into the plant saying 'the dog only attacks if you run' but he conveniently doesn't have any pictures to show for his adventure - that said, he's given me directions to some awesome spots so he can't be completely full of it.

Most, if not all, of the stuff I've posted is shot on film. The marks you see on that picture are water marks from where I've developed the B&W film in my bathroom. Usually you'd use something called 'wetting agent ' to help avoid water drying in bubbles and leaving marks but I didn't have any the other day so I left it. You can get rid of them again by either photoshopping the image or using a soft cloth and cleaning the neg. I left them there because I like the effect with the heavy grain and gloomy atmosphere. The neg is also scratched to hell in the bottom right hand corner but I don't have a clue how that happened.

Lexx, it`s best if you take out those scratches and dust and whatnot on those filmscans IMO, it`s just looks sloppy, not in a "cool" Holga way

I've yet to upload some 60" riding pics. They're a lot cooler IMO. I'm interested in taking photography but I never actually get around to it :\
