Re: official photography thread
I figured I would post this in here to see if I could get some suggestions.
I'm looking to buy a bag, maybe a backpack or a shoulder pack, to carry just like one slr and maybe one extra lens, but also carry other ####, not just camera stuff. I would like something pretty compact. I just want to have a bag to be able to carry around some stuff and have a camera too, in case I need it. Any suggestions?
I have gear.

Re: official photography thread
i just adopted a Minolta XG-M with a 50mm f/1.7 and a 28mm f/2.8! So stoked about it. Went out and bought a couple rolls of Ilford Delta 400. Time to expirement tomorrow. Unfortunately i don't know how to develop, nor do i have somewhere to develop myself, so where do you guys recommend going? just like costco or rite-aid?
At the local photography store, they charge $17 to develop a roll of 24 black and white. Is that cheap, fair, or expensive for just like 2 copies of 4x6's?
This whole manual focus thing is rough... still getting used to the diopter haha

For two sets of prints $17 is about right for a camera shop, although compared to Wal-mart it is expensive. However, you can't just get Ilford film or pretty much any black and white film developed wherever. Chances are that camera shop is the only place that can even develop that film for you. You can get Kodak BW400CN developed anywhere though. It's developed with color processing. But Ilford is better.

Re: official photography thread
The XG-M is a nice camera. I have that and an X-700 and I keep using the XG-M for some reason. It just feels better. I am super jealous of that f/1.7 though!! I need to dig out of those up sometime, I think. I shoot a lot in low light.
I also just grabbed a Bronica ETRS with the help of the great and powerful Blix. They sent the wrong back, so I need to exchange it... but I am really looking forward to shooting with this thing. It feels so precise, it's rad.
Hopefully I can stop being lazy and mix my damn chemicals tonight. I am backed up 3 rolls now and I keep shooting. :O

Damn at the photography on here. If I hadn't just spent all my money on my longboard, I might be inspired to pick up a decent camera.

check out REI --> REI: Deals on Outdoor Gear, Equipment and Clothing for Camping, Cycling, Fitness, Hiking, Kayaking and More
something like this maybe? a sling bag --> REI Singular Sling Bag 2.0 at REI.com
or look in the daypacks section. REI's own brand would be a great choice because it's as high quality as any other brand, and way less money.

Re: official photography thread
turns out it really costs $17 for 1 copy and $23 for 2 copies at the local store to develop/print. Man i never knew film could be this expensive... How much does it usually cost at like walmart or something? It's gonna be hard for me to justify paying that much per roll of film maybe i'll just stick to digital.. although film is way more fun from the one roll i've shot.

If i get my film developped at the photography store, do you think i could get them printed at any other store? Being a beginner and only 18 years old without a lot of income, using the best printing paper isn't that important. so i'm looking to get this all done cheap so I can continue to shoot film!

Re: official photography thread
getitrightsteve said you can't get your Ilford processed anywhere except a photography place. Check and see if there are places online you can send it...but I doubt it will be any less with shipping.

Re: official photography thread
first film with the OM4ti. All shot on the 50mm f1.4

Great camera but need to get back into the best habits for manual focus.
The F100 I just used to point and no matter what light it seemed to focus, but I had massive problems with camera shake because of the weight and the shutter. It was also brutally loud

for that price it would be cheaper just to pick up your own supplies and do it yourself (minus a scanner)
do you really need the prints? its probably a lot cheaper to get it on a cd, since most stuff is internet based anyway, and then you could get prints made of the select few that you really like. walmart can develop black and white, they send it out to a proper lab. i would imagine getting your black and white developed and put onto a cd to be about $5 from them, or somewhere in that range.

I forgot I had this. Taken right before a hailstorm hit. I personally love how I caught the outfielder looking up at the clouds.

Mostly because of VertigoJ's post a few pages back I decided to shoot some color film.

haha, thanks guys. I agree about the last one, just trying to do what I like to do with black and white but in color - textures and shades - but didn't quite work here.
