I really like the balloon guy with the kids. All the other ones are kind of blah, but that one has substance. Well shot

Re: official photography thread
Anyone know anything about film scanners? I'm having some problems. Go figure I finally got some film developed at my house, and the scanner takes a crap!

I've cleaned the scanner bed and lid, I am not really sure what to do with it.
EDIT: I've since fixed it, someone gave me a tip to remember to turn off the "Remove dust and scratches." Something about the silver in some black and white films reflects weird, I don't know. Here's the new one:

They look great Chaser, but you need to tame those blown highlights.

Re: official photography thread
i re-did it a bit, they are going for the bleached and washed out look. but i did fix the pants a bit.
So I traveled in a wagon with George W. Bush, Dick Cheaney, John Ashcroft, and Condoleezza Rice. During the journey, the group encountered a case of cholera, a broken arm, two wagon fires, one fever. Condoleezza Rice got fleas and died, but that's because she was having relations with the oxen. Dick Cheaney got bitten by a snake. Ashcroft - he ended up dying of dysentery. and bush got killed by indians. but thats the Oregon Trail for you.

Gregory, it looks like you're enjoying the XG-M. I've been using mine pretty much exclusively lately, it just feels so solid. I'm switching back to my X-700 though, so I can lend the XG-M to a friend who wants to learn about film.

This probably sucks but for some reason I like it.

Re: official photography thread
That's the rangefinder they make if I am correct. If you're going to go the rangefinder route, I would personally stick to a cheaper one until you're sure you like it.
I use a Canon QL17-GIII... Sharpest little lens ever, even wide open at 1.7.
I love the results, but rangefinder focusing is a pain when you get used to regular focus. So keep that in mind.

Re: official photography thread
what exactly is rangefinder focus? i couldn't really find any descriptions that made sense to me. I thought they were supposed to be easy to focus?
