i know that you get what you pay for, but i looked at the reviews for them and everyone liked it. whereas, the more expensive demon fisheye lens got horible reviews. and also is raynox a good lens, because my local shop has a raynox wideangle for $15 that the shop owner said was pretty good.

yeah raynox is a good cheap alternative. probably better than the other options u have (except the sony). I was happy with the brandless wide-angle lens i had before i dropped it on solid concrete. but i'd have to say, i probably wouldn't go down the cheap line again.

the one i used on my camera before it broke was actually a raynox and i got that for about $80 4 or 5 years ago. But I have used sony lenses and they look a lot nicer.
If its for speedboarding and stuff i'd go for something a bit cheaper because colour and quality is going to be a blur anyway, unless u get a professional lens and have a very good camera. But if its for cruising and dancing, i'd get something like th sony.

Ya good fisheyes are usually really expensive, the one my friend uses when we snowboard cost him 900 used (orgionally 1400), its pretty amazing though.

for longboarding though, I'd imagine the sacrifice of quality wont be too noticable considering the nature of the sport and the fact that your probly just filmin with friends and stuff.

    i hope you find one

I can't really speak much about video because I shoot stills. I think if you are goofing around with your friends skating though a $100 attachment ought to be cool.

As far as the comments about not needing the effect, it's not always about enhancing the height or distance, but about getting close to your subject. In still shooting the best shots are the ones where the camera is right in the guys face. Like Cartier-Bresson said, "if your pictures are not good enough, you are not close enough". Sticks for other things besides PhotoJ too.

The lens in your link is a filter though, not really a lens. I saw they advertise it for skateboarding and have the Thrasher logo on the site. Honestly it looks like the same video attachment they sell on eBay for $20. I bought one of those and use it with my camcorder, but I really don't give a crap about video quality. To contrast, I have a Canon video camera I paid around $125 for and the lens was around 20-something I think. For stills I use a Nikon D2X and a 10.5 fisheye.

    and thanks for the replies.
I just got some cheap lens at Fry's
Targus (.45x wide and tele + adapters) for $40.00

seems to me you should avoid that sony lens, cuz it's a 30mm dia thread. (37mm standard ?)
won't work if you get a different camera later on.

i dont really feel like spending $50 on sony lens i might not be able to use, but it is pretty hard to find a lens that fits, or an adapter. so it might have to work for a while.

my raynox lens came with ten different lens adapters to cater for most the cameras out there. go check it out at a camera store. i'm pretty sure sony do the same, especially if you have a sony camera.

yeah the sony lens comes with adapters for 25 30 and 37mm so it should fit other cameras too, but i plan on using this handycam untill i get a bit better and can afford to upgrade to a really nice camera, im thinking one of the pro canons, whichever one is only $2000. because i really like videoing and want to get better at it.
