Nothern Colorado Outlaw race!

Already posted about this in the NOCO boarders unite thread but we want to get the word out and hopefully start something fun!

Changed meeting time to 5:30pm at LoafNJug on I25 at exit 252(johnstown exit)

Having a smaller meeting at 1:30pm same place for some practice runs or to hit a few other spots close by and we will all head back to meet up with everyone else!

HELMETS REQUIRED!! Slide gloves highly recommended as well as any other safety gear!

The run is approx 1.5 minutes long at top speed which is 30-35 mph in a full tuck on a speed board...

Its a $1 buy in, winner takes all!

By no means do you have to be a speed boarder or at all race oriented person to come!

This hill will be amazing for carvers, cruisers and stand up sliders as well!
The hill is also perfect for all skill levels so dont be afraid to show up because you are new! It will be a great chance to learn some tips from experienced boarders and other new riders!

Oh uhm. I don't think I'll be making of out then. Maybe plan it like 2 weeks ahead (week after push race?) and more riders will knownboit it and com out

hey dont stress about it too much about making it or not. i'm actually going to try to organize an outlaw race every 2 or 3 weeks so there will be another one. tyraxx and i are just trying to make an regular event that will stoke everyone out where you have something to look forward to every 2 to 3 weeks (kinds like a club meet). Its also a good way to find new people to skate with that you would never meet otherwise.

Man how did I space the day...

So yeah Thursday...lol

Yeah dont sweat it at all, this will be a semi regular thing

The loafnjug is like 4 exits south of the Loveland/Greeley exit for highway 34 and around 8 miles north from the Longmont exits, its about the only thing on I25 for miles in any direction so you really cant miss it.

As for directions to the hill, we are shying away from that and hoping to meet up and do some massive carpooling because parking at the hill is somewhat limited and we dont want to attract any more attention to ourselves than necessary,

So far the residents of the neighborhood have been receptive in a positive or neutral manner and we hope to keep it that way by minimizing the presence of cars while maximizing the amount of random skaters flying down their street!

We can figure more out once we have done an event and know whats a good or bad idea.

Hoping to see lots of people on thursday!

Imm in boulder but I don't have a vehicular device. Whats the approximate location of the hill, if its closer to where I'm at then the meeting spot is then I might be able to make it out. knowwhatimsayin

For anyone coming to the early meet, there is a much lower chance of rain early in the day, it looks like chance for rain at the later meet is slightly higher but we still stand a good chance at no rain!

So the race is still on!!!

We look forward to meeting some new people and having some fun with old friends!

We are totally pumped about how much response we got and its going to be a really fun day!

See some of you at 1:30 and some of you at 5:30.

It was a tremendous success!

Zak Maytum took first place, Joel Putrah in second and Kyle uhhh Kyle something was third! Zak walked off with a pot of 12 bucks and Joel and Kyle were refunded their entry fee for podium finishes!

We had 14 riders in total, my step daughter and I believe Kyles GF as observers(cheerleaders?)we got some awesome photos that Kyle and Kevin said they would get posted ASAP and GIlongboardingJoe(AKA Chris Lagace)got some sweet photos as well of our "awards ceremony" on the "podium" We had Calvin stand in at the bottom of the podium for finishing in a solid 4th place.

Personally I was around 12th of the 14 riders I believe, but we ALL had an awesome time!

It was everything any outlaw race should be.

We had a brief issue with the local residents and possibly the coolest Sheriff Ive ever met, a man who was quoted as saying "Skateboarding isnt illegal, Im not going to make you stop." And "You mean you are all going to stop now so I dont get to see you flying down the hill?" He sounded genuinely bummed...

The residents in question were however quite polite, and so long as we did nothing illegal(Such as Skitching)they were fine with us continuing the race lower down the hill on the county part of the road where we had some amazing butt boarding races that Im not sure anyone recalls the outcome of except that what Justin lacks in pushing skills he made up for in butt boarding starts...

All in all it was a fantastic event! Either myself or GIlongboardingJoe will be setting up something else somewhere else in the near future. Kyle is also looking to setup some sort of outlaw race in the arvada area and we may all have to take the trip down south for another amazing day!!

So again, thanks to Zak, Joel, Kyle, Justin(JDoobies from Comet), Kevin, Mark, Calvin, Chris(This was all your idea!), Richard, OtherChris, Jose, Spencer, Tom for coming out!(I really cant believe I remembered all those names...)

If you didnt come to this one you really missed out! But never fear we will have more soon and all comers are welcome!

If you arent a longboarder you are barely living!
