    Default A legend is born...

So we went out to what will most likely be the race spot for NOCO #4 last night and a legend was born.

We discovered that you can skate the entire length of the road out of the development about a 1.5 to 2 mile journey and maintain a 25-30 mph speed if you can hold your tuck decently.

It was on one such run with the sun light quickly fading that Richard would approach what he thought was a twig with too little time to avoid and tank over the top of it. From the shuttle vehicle all saw was his board wobble for a second as he stood up and then something fly out from under him. Not far behind Chris looked down with surprise at what he later described as "the weirdly moving twig". It took only a moment for me to realize that it was a snake that Richard had just ran over at 27. I looked at it as I drove past and noticed its odd behavior which looked familiar to me, the snake was posturing and coiled itself up to strike. I stopped the truck and got out and sure enough I heard the distinct sounds of a juvenile rattle snakes fiercely rattling tail.

I went down and grabbed Richard and we drove back up where I quickly killed the already doomed rattler with a urethane wheel print across its middle.

Richard "The Rattlesnake" Chang will live on in my memory at least, as a legend who ran down a rattlesnake with hardly a care and continued skating.

    Epic.

By the way, the left hand turn at the bottom of this hill, even should you ride it stand up, you will approach at close to 40 miles per hour, its tight and hard and will cause much carnage, there is a second left hand turn about 150 yards further down that should you make the top corner cleanly you will likely approach at a similar speed because stand up riding just from the top of that smallish hill you can easily obtain 25. The finish line will likely be a small gate about 200 yards down that stretch of road where any remaining racers can tuck and draft and try to win with superior tactics.

The first left in a full tuck you can easily get to at 45+ and I imagine some of the better riders will have little trouble achieving around 50 mph before they throw a predrift or whatever.

Kyle hit 79.5 Wednesday on a canyon run for a new unofficial WORLD record. Now that's legendary.

Perhaps my sarcastic tone didnt come through as well as I would have liked...

As far as Ive seen, nobody posted who made the new unofficial record and there hasnt been much talk of it, HUGE congrats to Kyle and his actual legendary feat!

in your paskapoo post all you said was that it was a deity rider, and while suspected Kyle I couldnt really be sure 8)

Now seal the deal and win Paskapoo!!

Really Ty, it wasn't all that epic. It was like running over a soft twig and I had no idea, so running over a twig would have probably caused me more drama. But it was kinda neat.

Damn little rattlesnakes, one time when i was hiking up maryhill i saw a little snake sunning on the road and i decided to kick it and see what it was, then it reared up and shook its tiny little rattle. I was so lucky it didnt bite me when i kicked it.

anyways, cant wait for deity 3 and noco 4!

Sorry man I am of the opinion that each and every run on a hill is potentially the last one you make due to some jerk getting pissed about you speeding down "their" hill, so generally I dont tell anyone where a hill is until its around race time because if it may be the last run, at least it was during a race we got shut down and not a few weeks before.

The only real exception to this being when Im riding with friends, if I wasnt going on vacation in a couple days Id say lets get together and ride it, perhaps after I get back we can see if its still open to the public such as it were and get in a few runs.

Yeah that hill is a favorite for learning for me, I dont forsee it being unskateable anytime in the near future, that development seems to have flopped hard and only one of the two houses seems to be lived in.

Im looking forward to learning how to cleanly take that bottom corner at high speeds in the coming weeks/months
