Events Will Feature Dual Lane Giant Slalom, Hybrid/Special Slalom, and Tight Slalom, and A Thursday Event To Be Announced Soon!

All Venues Will Be In and Around Downtown Statesville Now Known Worldwide As Skatesville!


Tight Slalom, Hybrid/Special, and Giant Slalom events will be held on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday and will be a PRO/AM Qualifying Dual Lane Elimination Format each day. The Top 32 Men Professional Qualifiers and the Top 32 Men Amateur Qualifiers will compete in Elimination Bracket Format. Women’s Division and Junior Division will also be Elimination Bracket Format.

Thursday’s Event> To Be Announced. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the post. Hobby Park, though a great hill in a lot of ways is not conducive to Dual Lane G/S and it is also 45 minutes away from Statesville.

The DHB feels that the venues we will presenting will be more than worthy of a great event!

SIGN UP UPDATE:
Silverfish is working on a work around to the issue of multiple signups from the same computer. Until that is fixed if you would like to sign up one of your family member or friends from your computer you can send a PM to JUGGY and one of the DHB staff will get it on the sign up with 24 hours.

The DHB leadership has been working hard planning this years Worlds Championships and are excited about having you all come to our town to celebrate, skate, and share in the stoke.

Hotel Update: By the end of this week we will finalize the details regarding hotel accomodations for the event. The Statesville Convention and Visitors Bureau is assisting the DHB in securing the best rates possible and we are waiting on their final recommendations.

Concrete Wave Magazine: Michael Brooke from Concrete Wave is currently working with the various industry vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers, to put together a trade show that will accompany the Worlds in Statesville. If enough interest is there, you will have an opportunity to visit personally with representatives from the various longboard, slalom, and other skateboard companies while you are attending the World Championships. Stay tuned for more detail coming from Michael.

City of Statesville Support: We are getting a great deal of support from our city leaders, especially our mayor, police department, and city council. They have already granted us permission to block roads to test venues for the event and have pledged to give us a level of cooperation that is exciting and greatly appreciated.

Clarification On Format: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday's events are all planned to be dual lane elimination bracket racing with qualifying taking place each day. Qualifying will determine the top 32 Pros and top 32 Ams who will advance to the elimination brackets in the Mens Division. Women and Juniors will also qualify but the number of registered attending racers will determine the number of competitors in each of these categories.
Thursday's Bonus Event is still in the planning stages so stay tuned for more info as venues and format are finalized.

Speaking of Venues: All venues will be in and around the Statesville area and will not include Hobby Park Soap Box Derby Hill. We will be using it for the Dixie Cup however as we always have.


Airports: Charlotte and Greensboro, North Carolina are both within an hour's drive of Statesville and easily accessible by interstate.

On the registration issue: when you get to the registration page, you will see some bold, red text that advises you what do do if you're not already registered to post on Silverfish. Basically, it tells you to put in your name and information after clicking "Register", since the computer doesn't automatically extract that information from your brain (unless you're registered, in which case it does )

You don't have to be registered on the 'Fish to sign up for an event, but you do have to type in your own name. 8)

Most racers will be staying at the Best Western(Skatesville Central) but the Hampton Inn is also very close to town and has a movie multiplex, Outback Steakhouse, and a variety of other eating options on the property. The Hampton Inn may be the best option for those you bringing families with small or younger children.

So I've understood that the worlds will be in Skatesville. Nice!

Now could someone please sum up the important parts with schedule, courses expected, surface, hills, accomodation, fees, prizes, how to get there and everything else that is usable for racers in one nice, updated post. Preferrably before september 15 when deadline for payment is set.

Is this where I will find all info or do you update the slalomskateboarder.com posts as well?

Maybe it is just the picture, but the hill looks fairly short. Any idea how long this hill is? Is there any pictures on the internets of the GS hill?
