regulations are up to the mods.
however, i, as a not-so-noob member, think that people's first quotes are great for people to learn from themselves as well as from what others have to say. they may be annoying, but they're not THAT annoying, are they?

i mean all i was trying to say was that we were all noobs at one point, so hating on noobs isn't very nice, is it?

Mods lose out on either end. Do what it takes to make regular members happy, n00bs get pissed. Let the n00bs run rampant, and the regulars get pissed. Happy medium in this situation? I think not.

Re: New User Restrictions
Here is the problem with that. Many people join this forum, and have a certain question in mind. Why is my board doing this, why can't I slide that. It can be very frustrating to have a problem and not know the answer. This is why forums are great things. Instead how about some kind of feature that does not let a user post until they have searched for that topic. I don't know if this is possible, nor do I know if it is probable for the admins to program, but I think it would be a better idea than flat out banning a new member from posting.
Or how about temporarily banning a user if they post a thread that has CLEARLY been asked a dozen times. The user would be banned for a couple days, or a week, and learn their lesson

Re: New User Restrictions
Clearly Silverfish should only be for professionals. You should have to provide sponsorship confirmation from no less than three companies, post pictures of yourself on the podium at an ISSA sanctioned race, provide a quiver shot totaling no less than $5,000 USD in skate related gear (helmets and leathers included) and perform a standie 180 in front of Malakai once a month to maintain membership.
Give it a rest. There will always be a division between hardcore and casual in any hobby or sport. There will be people who only want their one question answered and then will never visit the 'fish again. There will be people who refuse to use the search function no matter what theyre threatened with. If your solution to this supposed "problem" is to make a public forum more exclusive, maybe its time to take a step back and remember what it was like for you starting out.

Re: New User Restrictions
vendor pages should and paid user should get different privileges. right now there is no reason for me to pay, but if I could go to Mark's page and only see his posts or the posts from users with good rep and that have been around for a while i might pay up. just like on a FB fan page, it can be set to where you only see the "fan pages" admin posts.
