I don't see why it's necessary. Everyone evades the swear filters (using letters with accents, v's instead of u's, etc.) so why not just get rid of it. The youngest people on here are like 14, and at that age, swears are your favorite part of your vocabulary anyway. Most of us are over 18, and therefore can legally view porn, so I think that it's safe to say that we can handle reading the "bad word" for crap. I mean come on, it's embarrassing to treat us like little babies. It's my mommy's job to protect me from bad words, not Silverfish's.

What do you care more about reading? Bad words and dirty language or well written responses to questions, and information relevant to what you want to know? I realize people still go sh!t Yeah! and get away with it and that's cool...but if anyone could just type whatever they wanted, it would further dilute the good information on these forums.

We would prefer you to have to think of a more unique way to spout disgust and filth than using the so very pedestrian and popular swear words.

Really though, if this is your biggest issue with the site you have not been here long enough.

This will be my last thread on this topic, I swear. I just think that it's a little extreme that we can't even dispute the forum's rules in the forum to do it in. I don't know why my thread got locked, but I think that we should at least be able to talk about the censoring issue. The fact that I might want to use sh!t in my post doesn't mean that I'm "spreading filth". It's a part of your demographic's vocabulary. What makes more sense: "WHOA, THAT'S SOME CRAZY ####!" or "WHOA THAT'S SOME CRAZY STUFF!" They both make sense, I suppose, but from a 20 year old longboarder, which are you more likely to hear, honestly? It's not filth, it's a figure of language.

Dude, people CAN type whatever they want, and they do, and it doesn't degrade the quality of the forum. You can make little pound signs, but people are still going to use swears and know what each pound sign stands for, so why make the forum ugly with your juvenile attempt at censorship? It just doesn't make sense and I would like a thread where we can discuss this issue like adults, instead of getting it locked for no reason.

It got locked because this is not up to discussion, bring it up again and take a vacation from the site.

Mis typing or manipulating text to evade the swear filters is also against the posting guidelines.

The site is running pretty well with the standards we have, you don't like it, there are plenty other places for you to swear as much as you want.
