Default So I overlooked the memo, did you see the memo Bob?

Which of the forums will require authentication before posting?
A bit of trial and error has revealed some but a definitive list has not been found by stupid me as of yet.

    Default duh

Okay, so I said I was stupid, Okay? OKAY?
I meant, which of the forums will require authentication before viewing?
But then again, this forum didn't require authentication to post in so who is being stupid after all?
    Never mind, carry on.
    Please respond to both questions.
    Thanks.

I think we can post in this forum without logging in, so that we can send a plea for help or whatnot if there's some problem like a gacked up screen name or whatnot. I pretty much log in whenever I visit, so I can read any forum...not an issue.

just curious what the reason for this change was? i find it annoying personally, but not a big deal. it is seems cooler to let non members see what they are missing out on so they want to join. i liked surfing all the posts without being logged in and then logging in when i wanted to respond to something. you guys probably have a good reason for this change.

There is a really good reason and we assure you, it wasn't to annoy!

Hey, when you login, just click the box offered that will log you in automatically, everytime. That's what we do. When you visit, your computer logs you in and it's seamless. We don't look at, sell, export, review or track the "cookies" your computer uses to do that.

We do access, ban and pursue the IP addresses/providers of spammers and other such scum. Sometimes, it's crazy how much time we have to spend cleaning up and eradicating that stuff, but it seems to work pretty well.

Yea this is definitly one of the better forums out there. Some are so overloaded with spam and repeat topics that i cant be bothered to sift through the 1000's of posts every day to find teh 20 i want to read.

I dunno, there was that one spammer who introduced me to some kinky sex forum and it's great there. What's funny is both Ol'dude and silver surfer are top 10 posters there too...

    Default SysProtect

For the privilege of logging in to avoid kinky sex spambots, it would appear that instead, my machine has contracted SysProtect pop ups.
That wouldn't happen to be a paid ad hereabouts would it?
If so, then a kinky sex spambot is preferred since that evokes legitimate pop ups that slow me down instead of my machine.

Spam bots are spam bots, and there are no paid ads or permitted spam-crappers on this site. The only paid ads are the banners you see from skate companies or the Google thing that gets inserted on some parts of the front page. Don't buy any "sys protect" from somebody that would use a pop-up to sell it!

Since swapping over to log-ins, the sex/porn/spam-botting of the forums hasn't been eliminated, but it's been cut down DRASTICALLY.

    Default Pop-up linked ads

Agreed, a reduction has occurred and I gladly thank you for that.

However, this pop-up piece of crap may have slipped through the cracks or is simply another virus/worm event.

A simple freeware (they do accept tips) tool for removing some of the pop-up generators is VundoFix.exe.

It may be found here: http://www.atribune.org

    Damn you lexx!

How dare you expose my secerets to the general sf population!

In all seriousness ncdsa has a new system to elimate or reduce spamers.
You have to type in a code that appears in a black box to submit your post. It's a very new thing there. Of course you don't even need a membership to post or view there.
I don't know if something like that is good, or needed here.

But I have seen spam posted by so called registered users.

...and then there are my posts...
