Recently it has become obvious that there is a problem here on the 'fish. There are a number of members, some new, some old, that are engaging in firefights and flame fests. A quick check of their post history shows nothing more than the aggressive insults and mewing of those that would sow hate and disgust in our ranks. Many of these people have been warned to not engage in this behavior.
No names will be named but, if you do not in some way heed this warning, you can be assured that the bellicose flames of redemption that pour from my fingers will leave you accountless and IP-banned from the 'fish.
How to avoid this fate? If you so care, it’s quite simple. Silverfish has always been a self-governed community of those helping others and exploring the wealth of information here contained. If you add to this, if you stoke others out and commit yourself to, at the very least, engaging in some helpful, amusing, informative and otherwise productive posts, your account will remain. Feel free to voice your opinions, but do so in a productive manner. Drop the hate, attacks and insults.
Some of the people under the gun used to be productive posters. What dismays me the most is at what point these people decided that they no longer wanted to be resources to the community and instead become a sphincter intruding candiru turning the otherwise healthy fish into a necrotic mass of festering hate and glory whoring.
When you post, try re-reading your post and asking yourself, does this really promote an attitude that would encourage other riders to ride? If I was a new rider would this help me in any way? Does this post add worth and contribute to the wealth of knowledge that the fish has established, by the many who have posted before me? If I walked into someone’s house and acted this way would they allow my heart to remain beating within my chest?
To those of you that do add supportive material, the amusing musings of our tribe and the jovial nature of the celebration of it all, consider that it is reasonable to take up words with those defiling the sanctity of this, your 'fish. If you don’t agree with someone or you see someone taking aggressive stances for no reason, don't engage them. Instead, please express to them what I am trying to impress upon you here. Silverfish is a community and everyone present should have something to offer.
The work we do here is what keeps Silverfish alive. It WOULD NOT be here today if it wasn’t for the work we have done. 50% of our traffic is new, non-reccurring visitors, so the forum is not, unlike it used to be, the most important function of the 'fish. So yes I can, and I will ban, the parasitic aspects of this forum. I would rather, and take these words with all the trust that you have in your deck, I would rather lose 25% of our traffic to the forum and alienate some rude people than allow the few on this site to continue this.
One of the main reasons I, as well as the other members of the staff here at the 'fish, chose to bring it to the point it is at today is that we appreciate the tone and temperament of the forums here on the ‘fish. Unlike other forums, it lacked the hostile and aggressive nature we don't like in other places. We tried to maintain that, but something has changed. Maybe it is our fault for taking a hands-off approach. Maybe it is just the nature of our changing culture and maybe we have lost some of the eloquent heavyweights that used to bring the haters back into the tribe, for whatever reason we are now at this point.
Make no mistake, this is personal. You can think what you choose, of me and of my words. I’m not going to discuss this with you. You will change your tone, or you will leave. I am prepared for the backlash that will occur. This is me, wanting to ban you.

hey just gotta say i think its cool that you guys are tryin to keep it all cool and friendly here. i think its a cool site and real helpful, but it sucks when some people are gettin down on people, esspecialy people new to the sport
I understand and respect the forum. I've been kind of a dork at times but I mean no harm. I am just having fun with other skaters like I do when I skate for real. We skate, then bust on each other, then talk about Star Trek, hot girls, or Taco bell. That's the fun of it. Less competition and more hanging out. "Social Longboarding"
And No Kai has not come to me privately about being banned, I'm not that bad.
Kai, I fully understand the message you are trying to spread. You support giving/recieving stoke instead of criticizing. Much respect to you on that.
I will try to keep that stoke alive on here and spread it to other places as well. The few times I have met you, I have learned new things that are good traits to spread through the skating community. I am not sucking up, simply stating my opinion on this situation. Glad to see someone is stepping up to keep this website running smoothly.
Am I going to ban you?
