Okay, I've been holding my tongue... and maybe theres another post about this elsewhere but I've heard nothing. I have a couple requests for Dan and the twins.

1. If we're going to enforce a "upload only" avatar policy can we please up the Avatar allowances to something in the neighborhood of 100x100 or atleast 100Kb avs? I know you guys are short on server space right now
2. Failing that, can you PLEEEEAAAASE allow me to simply use an avatar hosted from another server so I don't have to upload a new avatar everytime I want to change mine? If you recall, I do so frequently, and I'd just eat up more space when I could simply be eating up MY OWN webspace instead of taking precious kb's away from my fellow members.

1) right now its set to 80x80 and I would like to keep them around a max of 50k. Ive already gone though and fixed almost 50 avatars by hand and it has helped with load times.

2) out of the box this is not a vb feature but it can be hacked in. I know its a pain but I would like to start getting away from linked content all together. The issue of load comes up and well but right now the focus to add features to the forum are bring put on the shelf why the rest of the site migrates.

Even if you're on a mac that works... all depends on your browser.


all these new stabs at loading times are really making SF look like everyother forum out there.. the flare is gone.

If people want fast loading times they can disable viewing avatars and signatures in their user options.
