I just noticed for the first time there's not just a "California" regional forum but "California & Hawaii" forum.
Why are they lumped together?
It's closer from my house to San Diego and Los Angeles than it is from those two cities to the Big Island. I will admit Hawaii is closer to San Francisco but I'm a LOT closer to Death Valley and Palm Springs.
So why not a "California & South Carolina" forum? Or better yet let's really stir the pot and stick Texas and Massachusetts in the same forum? They are practically neighbors.
Now, I know the retort will be, "well, California is the state CLOSEST to Hawaii." No, it isn't. Brookings Oregon is just as close to the Big Island as anywhere in California. And after all Oregon and Hawaii do have one thing in common: rain. (Which is what it's doing here in buckets. So I have nothing to do but find ways to yank EBasil and Malakai's chain.)
No, I'm sorry. No matter how you slice it California and Hawaii are just too far apart to be in the same discussion forum. Might as well put Scotland and Alaska together since they are both on the same latitude.
(I know this is stupid but it is fun to attack some preconceived perceptions. It's just ASSUMED California & Hawaii go together. Attacking preconceived perceptions is pretty much what longboarders and skaters my age do on a regular basis, right?)
(Oh, and the air miles between cities is here: Air Mile Calculator
Just subtract 221 miles from Honoulu to Hilo to find the distance to the Big Island.)
I have nothing to do but find ways to yank EBasil and Malakai's chain.)
Yea you and 17,977 other people, get in line.
Really though I believe the reasoning is we do not want to have forums with little or no activity so to avoid this Hawaii was lumped in with California.

It's easy here: we got a river cutting the country in half. No doubt what's east and what's west.
What have y'all got? Mountains? Time zones? C'mon, it's Canada. Who knows what's where?
Like, the Capital. Where is it? Every time I say "Toronto," I get corrected. Every time I say "Montreal," I get corrected. (I'd probably know where the capital is by now but hey, I'm usually corrected by a Canadian and who's listenin' anyway?)
because theyre the same state duhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
seriously idk the new england one is like massachusetts connecticut rhode island vermont new hampshire and maine so go figure
there is no middle east section,
CW just did some Israel skatepark article.
I wonder if people skate in Iran or Iraq ?....
Good suggestion...

The California & Hawaii forum looks awfully busy.. Pacific Northwest looks pretty dead by comparison. If Hawaii needs to be lumped in someplace, why not there?
i think it's more of that cali and hawaii have similar surf influenced skate cultures.
it's more cultural and less geographical.
