Default Silverfish mobile web access.

Hello,

I usually access the fish via cell phone. I noticed that since Saturday/Sunday I have not been able to load the site. I have no problems with any other website and my desktop access is fine. Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this?

Thanks,
Scott

I was hoping this thread was about getting a mobile version of SF that just shows recent posts/forums. It would be nice if it automatically changed over to the mobile site if you are using a cell phone. I haven't had any problems on my phone

Yeah this really makes no sense. Silverfishlongboarding.com is the only site that I cannot load in my browser. "ALERT, The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check your connection and try again later." I have seen this before but usually only when the site is undergoing maintenance. Couple hours later and it is usually fine. Clearing cache etc does not resolve the issue. Oh well, I'll figure it out. I'm gonna try to launch the site from some friends phones and see if they work. I was spoiled for so long having access to this site on the road

Still no luck man. I launched the site using a co-workers WM6 enabled phone without issue. I then tried another co-workers phone (WM5 like mine) and it did not load. Recieved same error "ALERT: The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later". This error appears after some 20 secs or so, as it is trying to connect. My phone is a "Motorola Q" (WM5). I was leaning towards the fact that issue was related to javascript ads etc on the site. However, javascript errors usually have specific alerts/msgs. If I connect my phone via USB to my comp, the page loads fine. Of course this connection is using the desktops network link as a proxy. I am just trying to mention everything I can about the problem. Sorry to carry on

This issue started on 6-12-08. Up until this date everything worked fine. I really appreciate you looking into this. I will keep searching for info as well. The strangest thing is that I have never seen this error on any other site except silverfish. I use the phone for many other sites (Boring meetings @ work, traffic jams etc) Thats why it is driving me mad. I have to figure it out, just for the principal of it

Thanks. Do you know if the Blackberry Curve runs Windows Mobile ( 5 or 6), or does it use a propriety Blackberry operating system?

Scott

The Blackberry runs on RIM's proprietary OS.

Perhaps the problem is only with WM5 OS since Silverfish loads perfectly fine on my Nokia N82 which runs on Symbian (s60v3)

Yeah I am leaning towards that as well. Its just that it worked for a year or so, just fine Next step:
1. Verify if it loads for other WM5 devices.

If yes:

2. Verify if it loads for other Verizon WM5 devices.

Confirmed:
1. Site did not load on co-workers Motorola Q WM5 (Verizon).
2. Site loads fine with Symbian OS.
3. Site loads fine with other WM6 devices.

I should be able to narrow it down soon enough. Thanks again for the info.

Ok,

I have confirmed that silverfish will not load on multiple WM5 enabled devices (various models/carriers). I now believe that the fish no longer works on any WM5 enabled devices . This first began right around 6-12-08. Something must have changed in the web code no?

Thanks,
Scott
