I am glad someone is finally flamming this jerk. I got lucky and recovered the $30.00. I paid James Shaw (j.shaw1810@gmail.com) with paypal to his email address. The moment he rec'd the $ all communication died and my pursuit began. I used a credit card to fund the transaction so I had a backup plan if paypal didn't come through. He said he was in Canada but I am not sure if this is true. Why would it be? Somebody must know this guy.

As far as I know, PayPal will have some ability to track this individual since he has an account with them. This is Fraud and the authorities need to get involved

A little advice for those who got scammed and didn't get their money back with Paypal. If you paid with a Credit card on Paypal, contact the credit card company, they will reverse the charge. I got scammed on some turntables a couple of years ago. Paypal denied my claim, so I put the claim in with the CC company and promptly got my money back.

I hope this helps some recover lost funds.

I filed a claim directly with my bank today. They were happy to take it, we'll see what happens. They said they'd even reimburse the money I lost "temporarily" not sure what that means exactly.

Yeah, I probably should have been more suspicious. Most people on the Fish are really trustworthy people though, it's easy to forget to be wary on here.

This pisses PayPal off, and they will send you a nastygram after you do it. But it works, I had to do it myself once. That's why I always, always fund my PayPal payments with a credit card now. (I'll only pay from my PayPal balance if it's from a vendor I trust and have used before, like MHS.) Also, this only applies to real credit cards- ATM cards with a Visa or Mastercard logo do not have the same protections, so using your bank card will not give you this option, even if PayPal pulls from it as a credit card. Real credit cards only.

Fair warning: There's a time limit on how long after you make a charge you can do this. Check with your CC company, and don't let PayPal or the scammer or anybody trick you into waiting beyond the deadline, or you're screwed.

and will ship what you order...

Yeah, if I'm going with the non-retail route, I use a CC so I can have the charges reversed.
