    Question Hip pads

I've been longboarding for about 6 months now and one thing i've noticed is that it's never elbows or knees that bother me after a hard fall, but mainly my hips. So i was wondering if anyone out there knew of a good quality hip pad they'd recommend for just general riding that doesn't inhibit movement too bad or look bulky

I have 661, hillbilly and gritX shorts. The 661 are a bit too thin but lightweight and comfortable, the hillbilly are a bit better but the tailbone protection sucks, the gritX offer much more protection and have removable pads so you can mod them easy, I've heard skeletools also have this but the original padding isn't as good. I've only used these mountainboarding and not fallen on concrete with them, but I'm sure the principles are the same.

Naw man.. theyre kinda junk.. theyre an expensive copy of roller hockey girdles.. trust me.. ive had them all.. my hips are all but toast. look here for the real thing at much better prices.. Manley Girdles

the mission thorax are great for the price.. and fit nice under my leathers if you take out the front and side leg pads. but the best for protection by far ugly as they are are the Hillbilly Protection impact shorts.. ive melted surf trunks off leaving just my Hillbillys.

I offer this cause I have and have used most.. through years of skating and other sports impacts both my hip bursa are shredded. funny though I find myself rarley putting them on latley.

i have these and would definitely recommend them. you can't even tell you are wearing them. I wish there was a bit more hip padding.... but they have saved my ass countless times

    I rarely skate without them

if you can find cricket hip pads they're pretty good...they'll only go on 1 hip though otherwise it'll feel mega bulky, basically, it's a piece of hardish foam with a Velcro/elastic waist strap that you put around your waist, under your shirt, they're designed to soften the impact from cricket balls (a solid ball traveling at around 140km/h) so they should soften the hit from falling off, only problem is finding them, as America is a non-cricketing country =D good luck with what ever you choose
