I'm all for open air healing, once you got a scab going, it heals itself the natural way..

For road rash (skin abrasion) its best to keep a moist environment because this promotes healing. Letting the wound scab over is easy but opens the door to infection and disgusting scars. I found the best product to use is 3M Tegaderm. It is basically a clear wrap that sticks to the skin around the wound and covers the rash. It helps protect against infection and heals the rash without producing a scar. The only problems I have found with Tegaderm is it starts to stink because of the fluids trapped inside the wrap. It is also expensive. Other than that it is great stuff! Happy Skating.

or take the Greek Wedding solution... spray some Windex on it.

for the real.... scrub the hell out of it with soap and water. Pat dry. Hydrogen Peroxide a few times till it's not bubbling. Pat dry. If it's deep, I may tape some tissue over it the first night but otherwise let it dry up. Or if it's not deep but big patches of skin scraped off, I might smear on some diaper rash creme as you would for a new tattoo. Anti-bacterial, soothing and a water resistant layer of protection.

    Absolutely the BEST for burns...

Indeed is the best for BURNS,when you touch something extremely hot or burn your body with fire, then it's a good thing.Babosa is one of the most useful plants I've ever seen around.

But I hate those bandages with ointment on my wounds,I prefer air healing, depending on the wound I aplly Iodine PVPI after the wound is already stiff and/or Anti Septic Spray. It's a sh*t to remove bandages.

    Yup, that's the stuff.

It's funny, those are probably the only two succulent-type plants I would recognize. Mom grew Aloe, and I've got a Fairy Washboard plant I bought when I moved into my college dorm and the darn thing's just never died. Only plant I've ever had that lived; those things are tough.

    Buy Johnson & Johnson UltraHeal Multi-Day Dressing 2 3/4in x 3 1/2in Online at riteaidonlinestore.com

I used something similar to this on my knee. it makes a good seal and after holding it to your skin for 15 minutes, it really doesn't get in your way at all. it is very flexible, and it expands right where the wound is to pad it a little bit. I hope you heal up man. it really sucks.

The only over the counter treatment proven to speed healing time is Neosporin. If you can see a doctor, Silvadene is the best treatment for pretty much any burn.

Just make sure you don't use peroxide or alcohol on it. They actually slow healing.

Peroxide - I use it all the time and heal quickly. I've never had an infection. I'm wondering where you're quoting that from? Personal experience?

Yeah, I have experience with all this stuff; I'm a doctor .

True, peroxide and alcohol kill bacteria and prevent infection. But they also break down fibrin, which is the protein the body uses to form blood clots and scabs, which form the scaffold for wound healing. So even though they kill bacteria, they will slow healing. Neosporin and Silvadene both kill bacteria and promote fibrin formation, making them better overall.

Read the topic in the link I posted and you'll know where I'm quoting that from. Not only personal experience, but I got other reliable sources that confirm my theory.

a while ago i had the same roadrash forever, because i had my knee covered in a bandaid. there was no time for it to scab, so when i ripped the bandaid off my skin would go with it. if i didn't wear a bandaid, my pants would stick to it, which was worse.

I just recently got this spray-on clear "bandaid" stuff. I used it on one of my road-rashes and I don't remember it scabbing up but now it's basically healed, the skin is just a little paler because it hasn't tanned yet , but I'm really dark (half-filipino), so whatever.
