Healing road rash/burn?
What is the fastest way to heal a road rash/burn?
I was skating in the SP, fell off and slid down the ramp on my forearm. Now I think I have what you guys call road rash. Problem is I have a 18th birthday party on Thursday night and cant really go in with a scabby arm. Any quick remedies?
Cheers, Cen

Why can't you go with a scabby arm?
Seems that the skin that doesn't flex much heals faster than say a knee or elbow wound. My knee took forever to heal up.

Re: Healing road rash/burn?
Unless you are the exotic dancer at the 18th birthday party, why does it matter? I currently have one old scab just coming off and two fresh patches of road rash on my forearm. Last night I think about 3 people said to me "Gnarly arm" and I just said "Thanks".
Anyways, there is no quick fix for road rash. You have the option of bandaging it up or you can just let it scab up. There's no option of having your wounds disappear and having a flawless arm again - even after the healing you'll have some gnarly scars.

Re: Healing road rash/burn?
You can try NOT going to the party..But I know this is kind of impossible to happen, so if you're not one of the guys that cry because of rash, you won't suffer major pain. But if you sweat, oh my..

Get something like that. You slap it onto your open wounds and let it sit for a few days, it helps the skin heal much quicker, because it basically acts like an instant scab. I've got pretty bad road rash on the left side of my body, and have a black tie dinner to go to on Sat, and have been using that for the past few days, and the road rash is already noticably smaller. It reduces scarring too, which is a bonus! =D

Re: Healing road rash/burn?
The worst road rash I ever got was the day before I was best man at my friends wedding. Oh boy what a wonderful time wearing the tux and all with rash on both arms, stomach, and both legs outside on a hot day. I am used to the rash feeling now and have road rash on top of my road rash. Just remember that chicks dig scars.

Re: Healing road rash/burn?
I'm a big fan of open air and no bandage. I dug a big chunk of skin off that spot over the hip-bone that everybody hits sooner or later. This happened Friday evening, and I wore a bandage until Saturday morning... and that's all. I only wore it that long to keep the blood off of my sheets, I want that sucker in the air and growing scab as soon as possible. Bandages keep it wet forever. Who wants to keep changing wet bandages every day?
