This is a closer pic that dan pape posted on ASRA.
A new pivot point is needed for a visor,... that is all.
Even if Bell sold the Drop with a new threaded hole and a separate visor, I think a lot of skaters would be very happy to have this helmet.
I just ordered my bell drop today and I really want my visor to look like the one on the helmet in the foreground of this pic. I've read the how-to thread about making your own/attaching a charly but they always use velcro/tape and I don't think it looks as good as it could.
I can't find info anywhere about adding a new pivot point, how do you do this? Is the visor in the pic actually a charly mounted to a lower pivot or is it custom? Thanks dudes.
Just sent a letter to Bell about maybe putting something together where we don't have to mount our own face shield. Might be worth it if you have a few minutes to spare to write out a letter.

Just jot out a letter saying why you like what they do, why you want their lid over others, and give any extra info that you can put in.
good one champ!
I'll send one too!!
Hey,...what if we started a sort of online petition here at the fish?

I dont know,... but Im sure there is someone who could shed some light on this.
The Colabo bell drops are using Charly visors. But it looks like they aernt using the same hardware to mount the visors to the helmets. In the above picture you can tell there is a new hole drilled into the helmet. The upper hole is for the original rooster tail visor thing, that was removed and isnt being used. Shouldnt be that hard really to make these mods, check out the "what helmet was graham wearing at maryhill 08" thread for a lot of info on these helmets and modifications.
Ive just been hearing that a lot of people tried emailing them about this, and Bell were very closed minded about it.
I hope thats not the case,... but can someone fill me in,... was there a move already to approach Bell about this idea of putting an extra pair of holes in their helmet??
I think Bell can easily make visors too,... since they make moto helmets as well.
Maybe they dont want to be associated with downhill skateboarding.
You just need to get a charly shield, place it on the helmet and mark where the shields screw holes are on the helmet. Drill holes and attach visor. Easy peasy. Some of them have a notch cut out at the "nose" of the visor though to sit more flush with the nose of the helmet.
Actually, some of them don't. A few have gaps on the sides of the helmet and shield and the nose isn't notched out. Some have a large notch, some of a very slight notch and some had none at all.

Maybe they don't think downhill skateboarding is the correct application for their product and they don't want to make themselves liable by adapting their helmet for this type of use. My guess is it's all about the legalities.......
