Question Protec Ace, B2, Classic foams.

I know there is tonnes of discussion regarding the differences between their 2-Stage, SXP, and EPS foams. I was at a store the other day and tried on a Large Protec SXP Ace. I noticed it fit very strangely (both in feel and visually).

All helmets look strange, I know.

It looked REALLY weird, though. I found any helmet where the padding was even all the way around looked more normal, but this store didn't have anything other than the 2-Stage, which obviously looks less strange due to the lower amount of padding.

I looked inside and noticed that the Ace has very thick foam up front and very thin foam in the rear, while the B2 and Classic have foam of an even thickness all the way around. The product photos on Protec's site show it the same way. Is there any reason for this?

The B2/Classic just look safer for the random types of falls while skating...

I have an SXP, and yes it looks huge, the foam is thick all around just even beefier in the front. No where is it thin enough to worry me. I hit my head last week exiting a garage with some speed, none of the foam compressed or anything but I was fine. Shaken, but ok. No bump or anything.

If you feel safe in it go for the 2 stage foam but I get the feeling it won't help you much if you hit your head going fast. Seems like it would just squish until you are left with just the plastic shell to protect you.

If you really care about looks then get a bern with brock foam, least nerdy lookin helmet I've seem. It's pretty damn slim.

I know I'm going to look nerdy either way; this helmet just looked really strange on me. The Classic and B2 are available with EPS or SXP foam (respectively) or the 2-stage.
