Stickers on a Helmet
does anyone know how to put stickers on a helmet without getting them all ####ed up? There has to be a way but i sure as hell cannot figure it out and its pissing me off cause im wasting stickers left and right. Every time i try and put them down they crease horribly. Ive tried cutting them in half but even then they dont come out THAT well. I use a plastic card to try and make them better but its no avail. Its there some trick that im not keen to?

I think your best bet would be to use the sticky side of the sticker

Re: Stickers on a Helmet
Use a hair dryer. If it still creases, slice the crease with an Xacto blade.

Do you just blow try the creases after the stickers are already stuck on?

Re: Stickers on a Helmet
Cut little slits into it if you're doing it on a curved section. I would just try and keep them on flatter sections though like horizontal above the ear or back for example.
Longer skinny stickers work better than square ones for example.

Just stick in on lightly, start hitting it and press it on. Dont want to hit it with too much heat.
You can hit creases with heat and press them down with your fingers real hard. It all really depends on the size of the sticker and curvature of the helmet.
Results will never be 100% perect

Re: Stickers on a Helmet
i think it would also depend on the type of film used for the sticker...
the clear ones by loaded lay flat (despite curves of the helmet) when you apply them but they tend to form bubbles later on.
i had to put scotch tape on the edges to keep it from peeling off completely. looks hideous but at least it's still there.
the best stickers are those you can stretch, similar to electrical tape or reflective film.
i'm guessing those stickers with paper in them will be hard to put on a helmet.

Re: Stickers on a Helmet
i tend not to cover my helmets in stickers because it makes it harder to detect cracks that have a tendancy of forming on things that take such abuse

Re: Stickers on a Helmet
Stickers are just a pain to put on and take off. You need to work at a angle and go up slowly working in the sticker if it feels like a bubble is there or a crease pull back and try again. Some need to be cut into other shapes to make them work. Remember to work it in with a cloth and your fingers.

Re: Stickers on a Helmet
In my situation, I stuck the sticker on the helmet.... dont press the creases down, use a heat gun to shrink the creases, and use a squeegee to roll the creases out.
It you dont a have a heat gun use a blow dryer on high heat. Get the sticker really hot and it should shrink.
Hope this helps!

Re: Stickers on a Helmet
Like people have said, its really annoying to put stickers on to non-flat surfaces. Vinyl is nice because you can stretch it and really work it on curves and bumps, but nothing is perfect. Use a credit card or something to really press it down, and start at one end and slooowly apply the whole thing. I work in a sign shop, so I work with vinyl all the time, bubbles and stuff happen, but using a small sharp knife to put tiny holes in the bubbles works a bit. Trust me, box trucks are much harder than helmets

Sometimes if you use a lighter to heat up the sticker before putting it on, it gets rid of creases and bubbles. Worked for me a couple of times.
