No CPSC Helmet for 3 Months? Soft Foam Ok?

I finally found a CPSC helmet from Bern that fits my huge noggin but its out of stock for about 3 months. S-one offers a helmet that will fit my head but it only has soft foam.

So my question to you...what would you do from here? Go for the soft foam now and then switch to the CPSC when its available? Or buy a CPSC bike helmet right now and then get the CPSC skateboard helmet when its available? Or maybe you have other ideas?

It seems like soft foam will be pretty useless in a downhill wreck though right?

having hit my head in a soft foam helmet, its not a bad idea to have a CPSC one, especially if you are bombing hills. they aren't as comfortable, but they will do a much better job at protecting the noggin.

if you are doing fairly low speeds or just cruising around i think you will be fine in a soft foam.

I'm not going to be doing anything too crazy but there are some fairly big hills on campus.

It sounds like I should go for the bike helmet then since I won't be just dinking around?

i use a Protec Classic CPSC and it seems to bode well for me. i feel safe as hell in that thing!

Thanks. Unfortunately for me I have a huge head so I have slim choices helmetwise.

Would others recommend bike CPSC helmets over soft foam helmets as well?

Check out the S-One Destro, a friend of mine has one that i tried on, its CPSC, fits my big head, and feels like a soft foam helmet, it will be my next choice
