Default Best pads for heavy skaters

Which pads do the heavy skaters out there like for pool and park?

I'm dabbling in park skating and have found that the protec elbow pads I got at the local shop are not working well for my 225lbs and 6'5" height. I'm ending every session with gigantic bruises and ridiculous swelling. I want to progress without fear of easy breakage.

187 Pro pads, you will not regret it. I've taken all kinds of slams to my knees and it completely absorbs all impact.

I actually wear Smith Scabs knee pads and Pro-Designed elbow. They've (PD) got an inch of foam padding. I don't think there are any others that can match that.

You've convinced me that $80 is not too much to pay for custom pads, and hopefully avoid the hassle of a broken elbow. Thanks.

is 3 months of skating worth $80 to you? cause that's what a broken elbow will cost ya.

    I love 187 knee pads.

At the top of a hill at a very high speed there's nowhere to go but down.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I've never worn 187's but I know someone who does and he isn't very heavy but he regularly walked away from a session with bruises on his knees (and the pads didn't come down)...........Prodesigned is the way to go. Get the Super Singles as they are the beafiest pads on earth!!! They're expensive but what price can you put on injuries? My broken wrist cost me approx 1400$.......with insurance!!

I"ve got the medium thickness PD'd on my knees and they're the most comfortable/effective pads I've ever worn.

I'm 220 lbs & 47 yrs old so YMMV. I just slammed onto flat this morning. My wrists and knees took all the pressure. I had PD's on both. I'm a little sore, but was still able to skate and will still be able to make a living this week. PD's are highly recommended. Get the wrist guards too. They're great.

the inner padding is awesome. im 212pounds and they are awesome.

but i guess my legs are too fat because after about 8 months of use, they ripped like 1/4 down the side.

    lol but they are comfy.

Okay I am 330 pounds and my biceps and forearm can fit fine in normal xl size pads but my knees....that is another story! I have thunderthighs! anyone with big thighs/legs got a recommendation for pads?

*sorry for the resurrection of an old topic but I use the search function *

I would recommend the 187s PRO too. When they blow out they're useless though. I've had mine for 4 seasons and they slip down all the time now... I will get another set though.

Mine are badly ripping down the side as well and I'm 100% sure that they are the exact right size for me. It's just the material there isn't that thick and failing at colemans makes them rip. I think it might be time to get out the sewing kit soon. Might as well attack my gloves while I'm at it, they're getting shredded.

Anyway, TSG all terrain are great pads and very comfy, especially for the price, but the sock material is a little thin.
Oh come on gravity, you used to be cool...
