Default Knee pads, knee pads, knee pads.

Alright dudesters, just bought a helmet I'm satisfied with which pulled 53 bucks out of my pocket. Now I need some knee pads, and I'm set. Since the helmet took most of the cash out of my pocket, I need some decent, affordable pads. I was shooting for the 187 pro's, but wouldn't be able to afford them for a while. Any alternatives that aren't terrible, but still cheapish(not a word).

I dunno, 187's are really worth the extra bucks. Saved my knees many times.

I really really like my triple 8's. Not too pricey either.
This is Silverfish, take it with a grain of salt. It's fun to come back to at the end of the day, but nothing beats the real deal. Make your own judgments and form your own opinions. Remember whose lens you're looking through!

I rode my friends Smith Scab Psycho Pads, they're so comfortable.

I'll probably end up buying them, or 187's,and dealing with the wear and tear on my knees everyday til then. Seems most cheaper alternatives are uncomfortable.

I almost bought these a couple weeks ago, but Ifigured cause they're so much cheaper they've got some immaculate flaw deal breaking flaw, and never got any feedback. If the non replaceable caps are the only downfall I don't really care, cause they'll still last quite a while, and will definitely purchase these. I'd just go try some on, but sadly all the corporate skate shops here don't offer them. And Sports Authority, and Big 5 only have child sizes.

Also, does anyone know if there's a system to know what size knee pads you should wear? I don't want to order a size that won't fit right.

I got lucky and happened to get to try a pair of scabs (the biggest reason I bought them) and so I knew what size I was.

Adult size means you're probably a large. I wear the L/XL pads and my legs are average for a lanky dude. <150lbs probably the S/M for scabs, IDK about the rest.

I just found these last night hunting for gear after taking a little spill on a hill near my house and getting a little pavement love. All the reviews I've found say that they are some burly ass, indestructable pads that will take whatever punishment you can dish out, but I'm not sure how they are on flexibility. I'm ordering a pair and will toss up a review once I have them... my only concern is their flexibility, but again, I'll toss up some info once I've got it. Really though, at that price, how can you go wrong?

i got world industry knee/elbow pad set at big 5 for 20 bucks. I like 'em. Fallen a few times and they hold up well while protecting my skin. i melted cutting board on the knee pads though because the hard shell is a little thin.

Let me know how it goes via pm, or thread when you get them. Be careful though, some thread on a website said the Hot Deal thing was bogus, and some guy got stuck paying full price, cause they sent him a denial of the discount after he ordered the pads. So let me know if they're legit, and how they fit!

    Update on this, disposabl3 hero?

The total's like $16 or so for me, shipping is crazy. Still might be a good deal though.

Shipping was something like $8, but that was for a set of elbows and 2 sets of knees (my housemate jumped on the deal soon as I told her about it)... thus far they've only charged me the discounted price on everything, but we'll see. Last time I talked to someone at cambria (one of the owners) they were incredibly helpful and seemed entirely legit, so I've got no worries atm. The pads should be getting here today, so I'l toss up some first impressions when they get here.

I have protecs and although they're not 187's, they get way more comfy the more you break 'em in.

I just bought the ProTec drop in's, and they are stiff as hell. First time I tried to squat down on my board, I bout ate asphalt. Also, after one day of riding they have ripped around the velcro on the inner strap. Sucks considering they were $40 wholesale. I don't think I really like them. Maybe they will loosen up. Anyone else have or tried these pads?

I bought some SixSixOnes, they are awesome even though they were more for mountain bikes. You can find them for a good deal on line. Look for the DJ Pro model.

Got those knee pads. First impressions:
    1) Completely bombproof... it'd take some real hell to either tear these things off or to tear them up
    2) Pretty stiff. I'm hoping they loosen up after a bit of use, so we'll see how they break in.
More after I take them out on a skate with my roommate tomorrow night.

No, Flys offers less protection and are not open back, which is annoying. I recommend the Pro's, worth every dollar.
