    Default Full face helmet weight...

I'm looking into getting a full face helmet as my half shell doesn't even has hard foam, and also a half shell doesn't provide as much protection as a full face...

so I was wondering what is considered light, medium, and heavy for a full face helmet.

The helmets I looked at were like 3.3lbs...

I read that the Bell Drop was like 2.3 lbs...?

    Help please?

What is considered light, medium, and heavy for full face helmets depends upon what type of helmet you're comfortable with. There are three types: DOT helmets, bicycle helmet (CPSC and sometimes ASTM BMX or ASTM Downhill), and those that don't meet specific wheels-related standards.

DOT full face helmets are intended for motorized use. DOT helmets have thicker foam, heavier shells, and less/no vents. So, they tend to be "heavier" - more like the 2-3 pounds you mention.

Full face bicycle helmets - like the Bell Drop - meet different test standards. They'll have thinner liners, vents in the shell, and generally weigh less than DOT helmets. The Drop, Bellistic, and Remedy all weigh roughly 2 pounds.

You have to decide on what you are comfortable with... High speed downhill - probably merits a DOT helmet. But, they feel "hot and heavy" to some people. Really want light weight and venting? Look at a bicycle rated helmet. Max aero, min weight, and max peripheral vision? Consider non-wheels rated helmets.

General feedback? Light = 2 pounds. Medium = 2.5 pounds. Heavy 3+ pounds.

I have an old BMX helmet and 2 DOT helmets. I like the safety of the DOT helmets, bet damn are they heavy.
