    Default Low-profile gear

I'm looking to get into some more slidy-tricky stuff when I get my Eel, and was wondering about safety gear.
    Slide gloves, yeah, of course.
    Helmet, duh.
But one thing I don't know about are pads. Last pads I had were Rollerblade brand and I used them for pulling sweet slides on this tiny bike on some ice. I remember them being uncomfortable and they pinched behind the knees.
Are there any pads out there that will A) Fit nice and be comfy and B) Be slim enough to wear UNDER jeans, so they don't bunch and such?

The 187 Pro knee pads are huge but stupidly comfy. I have legitimately worn them from when I woke up until when I've gone to bed before. When they get too stanky you can take off the caps and throw them in your washer. The knee caps are replaceable too.

I'm not sure why you'd want to wear them under jeans seeing as you'd rip the dick out of your jeans. If it's cold I prefer to go for the long johns under shorts with knee pads over that method, or just long socks that come up to my knee pads. Tons of people wear their pads over their jeans and don't complain though.

Gotcha. That makes sense to me, too.
Do they limit your range of motion at all?

I think I could create a thread asking what cup what would work best for longboarding, and everyone on the fish would reply telling me to get 187 Pro knee pads....

They really are not that special, and they are definitly not anything close to low profile, as the title of the thread requests. Ive gotten the velcro to poke me in 187 Pro's, they are massive and definitly would not fit under anything other than parachute pants, and are over priced. The only benefit to them is conveniance, for me. You can put them on snuggly without having to take your shoes off.

To answer the original question, ProTec street knee pads might be what your looking for. I used to wear them under some cargo style pants comfortably, because it was the cold time of year. They are pretty much bottom of the barrel as far as protection while longboarding goes. Getting the right size, and wearing them properly (with the sleeve) is crucial to any knee pads staying on during a crash.

How does sizing work? Do I need a tape measure, or do I need to find a place to try them out?

I've only ever used Triple 8's, and I like them quite a bit! Definitely not going to fit under jeans or something, but the whole long johns with shorts is amazingly comfortable. Also prevents irritation from the pads rubbing on the back of your knee. These pads weren't so comfortable at first, but once you wear them in they're fantastic. However the plastic caps aren't replaceable.
