True that. about $6-7 for a set of 4 is what I've been paying.
Been looking online to find a cheaper source, and maybe larger pads - they come in 4"x4"

neosporin, saran wrap and masking tape.

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
sick! these sound perfect for road rash. no more exposed roadrash in the shower!?!? sounds like the best invention of the century to me. thats right, better than the slap chop aaaaand the snuggie. (WTF 21st century? the 20th century had the airplane and theory of relativity by the time it was your age!)
plus they probably pay for themselves if you take into account the amount of times gauze pads need to be changed.

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
These look sweet.
... saran wrap and masking tape.... no thanks.

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
Dave, I read the title and didn't see who it was by and thought about recommending this product if they had something else. Beat me to it I guess. Glad to see you're healing up your arm rash.

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
I once used a liquid bandage product for moderate rash.. BAD IDEA
Not breathable, gets crackly and dry, hurts like a bitch to put on, healed real slow.
Not trying to advertise here, just sharing. Ive used a lot of methods, and I've found the speed of this one to be worth the cost. Too many times have I had rash that takes way too long to heal. Redamaging a slow-healing deep scab is the worst. Gauze and nonstick wound dressings still allow for the healing skin to be damaged, especially in the shower or when changing dressings

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
Hey those you posted first look like htey do the job..
Liquid bandaid sucks ass... basically clear nail polish. Burns like hell, cracks, and then puss oozes out in big spheres until they pop and run all over you.. might as well not use it at all and just let it scab.

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
I'll have to look into this, my road rash has been healing for 2 weeks now, and I have a bit of gauze bandage melded into a scab on my elbow, which I'm just leaving there until the scab falls off... No way in hell I'm tearing that off to have to let it heal for another week.
Peeling off the small layer of scabs during bandage changing sucks, and then it just hurts like a bitch again in the shower.
Thanks for the advice, +rep

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
first bad road rash was in the summer, i kept the wound covered with "soothing non-stick dressing" from johnson and johnson. it was nice to have the wound covered during day and night but changing the dressing was still a bitch because it stuck to the wound every time. kept ripping it open, fresh blood every time.
i got bad road rash again a few days ago and decided to let it heal uncovered this time. it scabbed over quickly but the pain throughout the day is greater. jeans and bed sheets rubbing against the wound and the rigidity of the scab have made the past week a real pain. not to mention the increased risk of infection.
i am going to have the pads you recommended ready for the next (inevitable) road rash, it sounds like a dream come true. cant wait to try them out....wait...yes i can.

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
LEATHERS!!!!!
Keeping the rash covered probably isn't a bad idea but you have to change the dressing often and layer it in neosporin when you put it on so it doesn't stick.........good luck!!

i kinda like to go the scab method a lot of the time as long as i can get it to scab up before i get it dirty or risk gettin my sheets gunked up or something.
You're dressing shouldn't' be sticking to your wound and repealing like that is one of the worst things and just adds to recovery time i find. I've had some people say just let it dissolve in warm water and you'll be able to get it off but i'd rather just not have to in the first place.
Any good nonstick (not regular gauze) telfa dressing works great with a little bit of neosporin and i've never had a problem with it sticking.
Good paper/cloth bandage tape with maybe some ACE wrap depending on where it is is great. I had some of this stretchy self sticking wrap somewhat like ace which was good as it was easy to change/apply and didn't want to undwrap itself at all.
i've gone through a good amount of these:

Re: Best road rash remedy - seriously.
only my latest road rash gave me problems, but that is because it was just in a bad place.. the waistband of my pants would cause my boxers to stick to it... i usually just let it scab up and there's never any problems. natural bodily healing!!!!!

no
nonononononono
alcohol will leave permanent scar....like the ones on my ankle.
just use water and mild soap to clean the wound.
the spray-on bandages help, but only for a short while. i'd rather use aloe-vera ointment whenever i can, and let the wound breathe.
