Default Helmet choice, Giro or Bell

Hey guys, I've done my research and I still can't decide for sure. I am deciding between a Giro Remedy and Bell Drop. I've looked around all of these Giro vs Bell threads and what not but all I can find is biased opinions. It seems no one (in any thread I could find) has had experience with both.

From what I've read, I can't go wrong with either. It seems both the Drop and Remedy are somewhat equal in every way.
I have tried a Giro Remedy myself, it's infinitely better than the Bellistic I currently use. Since I see people praising the Drop for being extremely comfy, I imagine it feels equal to or even better than the Remedy.
The Remedy costs more than the drop though, the cheapest I can find it is from $90-100 dollars (the 08 and 09 models). Vs. the drop costing as low as $70 (09 models) with shipping.
None of the local shops carry the Drop and I haven't had a chance to try it on so making this decision is difficult. Basically I'm leaning toward the Bell Drop because it seems to be equal to the Remedy, and at a lower cost.

I am hoping someone here has had experience with BOTH helmets and can tell me some quick pros/cons. Also, since I've already tried the Remedy, could someone explain how the Drop differs in feel? I would really like to get the Drops but without actual experience wearing them, This makes things a little difficult.
Cosmetically, I like the Remedy's design more. Economically, the Drop is a better choice for me because I plan on buying TWO. One for myself and one for my bro.
    $200 for 2 Remedy's
    $140 for 2 Drops

I plan on doing this soon so I don't expect this thread to be around too long. I'm hoping to get a few quick answers if possible.
    Thanks for reading!
And many thanks for replying with helpful information!

I ended up going with the Remedy. I liked the style and wanted a really lite, loose fitting helmet in a fullface design.

You can find them for as lo as $70 if you're not picky about the graphic. I went with the flat black. Check out Jensen

My Remedy is really comfy although I had to go a size larger since I didn't want a lock-down vice fit. They also include a few extra pieces of foam in case you need to custom fit the helmet a bit. I actually had to shim the cheeks a bit .

    Good luck

Both helmets are made by the same manufacturer, to the same standards, so you can eliminate those variables. You can also find good deals on them both by using either the links in the deals thread in this forum or by simply chasing the URLs to the places usually linked to for the deals.

    Buy the one(s) you like.

I bet you could find a bell drop for under sixty bucks if you really looked hard. Got mine for 54.99
I have a bunch of skateboards

Isn't this what you're supposed to put in a signature?

hey thanks guys. Since I didn't get a chance to try the drop i wasnt sure how well it would fit. im sure it would be fine.
the giro i tried fit perfect in every sense of the word, so instead of getting a drop that MIGHT fit a little less than perfect, a sprung for 2 giro remedys. They also look a little better which is an added bonus.
i managed to get them at 82$ each. i chose the titanium cityscape (2009 model)
if anyone was wondering why i got 2 helmets and didnt read the first post, its for my bro.

    thanks guys

The best helmet is the one that you'll wear the most. I love my Remedy. Bell's don't find my misshapen head.

Hey guys, I'm now a proud owner of a Giro Remedy.
It fits great and feels far better than my Bell Bellistic. In comparison the Bell felt very hard, the Giro Remedy is far cushier and comfortable.
I still wish I had the chance to try a Bell Drop. My guess is that its about the same as the Remedy. I would definitely give Giro extra points for style. The shape, styling, and paint jobs definitely look better than the Drop's.
