call the police station in that area and ask them directly.

this question gets asked ALL THE GODDAMN ####### TIME and the answer is always the same: no one knows for sure except that longboarding is illegal on the canyon roads of malibu.

it's a weird situation, sometimes you can get a "playing in the street" or "misuse of a road" ticket. or you might be lucky enough to grab a "crossing a double yellow line" or "failure to stop at a stop sign" ticket.

i would call a lawyer and find out the local laws.

i skate in the road a lot, cause my town has NO SKATEBOARDING ON THE SIDEWALK signs all the way down the strip, so if someone honks at me, i kindly flip them off and point at that sign

    Wisconsin

Can I ride my skateboard or rollerblades on the streets?
State law 346.78 states, "No person riding upon any play vehicle may attach the same or himself or herself to any vehicle upon a roadway or go upon any roadway except while crossing a roadway at a crosswalk." Skateboards are considered play toys and are not allowed by this state law. Rollerblades are allowed in the streets, but the skater must follow this state law and ride in a careful and prudent manner and with due regard under the circumstances for the safety of all persons using the roadway.

Go figure.... i'll see what happens when i start riding my play toy to work.

Seems like each town is different. Its the same with bikes. Some places say to keep bikes on sidewalks to stay out of the way of cars, and others say to keep bikes in the road to stay out of the way of pedestrians. I would think in the case of getting a ticket, you could probably contest it in court.

Notes for riding on the road:
    Avoid running into cars.
    Check both ways at intersections.
If a car is coming up behind you, try to get to the side to let them pass.
    good luck.
