Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
I'm looking for a low-profile, lightweight, half-shell helmet that has a nice deep fit on your head. I have a protec b2 with sxp foam and am not happy with its big goofy look and fit.
so which would you suggest, the brentwood or the brainsaver? i've heard the brentwood fits my description, but everyone seems to advocate the brainsaver on here.
thanks in advance.

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
I don't find the brainsaver particularly comfortable but I like my bern watts.
EDIT: The brainsaver seamed to squish my head even in size large. Not even snug, my snowboard helmet is snug and comfy, brainsaver should be called brain squisher. Berns Watts is lighter, better looking and more comfy. My Berns is not bike/skate certified though, it's soft foam rather than the hard foam.

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
I just bought a Brentwood for skate/bike/ski. I like it a lot. I have a large melon and what's know as a "high" head. I don't know that on me I would describe the Bern as "low profile." I think you may need to try them both on to see.

good idea. i was about to reply saying there's no where in my little alabama town that'd carry either helmet til i remember the bern is more or less a bike helmet so maybe one of the cycling stores here has it. i'll check them out tomorrow

Is that the Brock Foam? Soft foam just sounds so much more comfortable but I suppose the protection factor is more important. Have you ever taken any falls on it/feel safe in it?

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
i love my brainsaver. after a while it will form to the shape of your head. when i had a buddy over he used my other friends brainsaver and he coould tell that he was wearing it. (garret didnt know nick was using his helmet.) they are lightweight will save you from cracking your head open. they are also good for the hot humid summers i get in southen NC, they soak up sweat and arent to hot.

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
Yes, its the brock foam. I have not taking any falls with the helmet but I'm sure it will offer as much protection as the brainsaver will. I don't really skate too aggressively yet so I think the brock foam is fine for now. If I started to do DH and go faster, I would consider something with more protection. Either way, I have two brainsavers (M and L) and a Bern Watts and I never reach for the brainsavers. And no, I don't have a big head at all but the large brainsaver squishes my head and the medium is worse. =(

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
I would base your decision on trying both the helmets on. For me, a good fitting bern sat way too high on my head, a pro-tec sqaushed my temples, and the brainsaver was perfect, like it was custom molded to my head.
I like the triple, it sits low, holds on to my head nicely but not uncomfortably, and looks like a normal helmet (not that I don't like the bern look)

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
i love my brainsaver. Large fits me really snug, the foam gives just enough to creat a really good fit. Soaks up sweat like no ones business...oh and anymore (after a couple months of wearing it all the time when i skate) i honestly forget im wearing a helmet. Its aweseome. Id recommend it.

Does that seem about right ?
That's probably dead on, but it's probably for the cpsc certified helmets, because My head is a little over 23", and the large fits amazingly

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
I would have liked to tried both on before purchasing; however, neither was carried by any store in my town. So, although I was heavily learning towards the bern at first, I ordered the brainsaver tonight, black glossy. mainly because it was cheaper and seemed like the better option for my needs.
should be here sometime next week so I'll try to remember to throw up my 2 cent review after some use. thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Re: Bern Brentwood vs. Trip8 Brainsaver
Nice! I think it was probably the better choice, I found the brainsaver sits way lower on your head than the bern
