How often do you wear your helmet?

I'll be honest. I don't always wear a helmet when I skate to school or work. Whenever I go to a group skate sesh, I ALWAYS bring my helmet with me and it stays on my head. So what about you? Please be honest and lets not act negatively to those who skate without a helmet.

i can honestly say i skate maybe 5-10 minutes without a helmet each month if that. usually my helmet gets buckled onto my head before my feet touch the board.

99% of the time im wearing one... that includes cruising and everything. two days ago i had a lapse and forgot my helmet/gloves in my car at the bottom of the run so i skated without them and it felt disgusting hahah. this was an in-town run maybe 30mph at max.

when i am commuting, i dont wear one.

when i am grinding my rail outside, i dont wear one.

when i go to skateparks, sometimes i wear one, obviously i wear one in parks where ur suppose to, which i should add does not bother me one bit.

when i race or practice slalom, i wear one.

when i do ANY type of downhill, i wear one. same with garages

I don't wear one riding around santa clara (absolutely 0 slope in this town) but the moment I go to a slope the bell drop comes out (it's my only helmet)

all the time...after having mates get hurt at low speed, having friends of friends die at less than 20 km/h and being saved twice by my helmet...after nearly getting killed when not wearing one....yeah- i wear one all the time.

its funny though, for a while there i was getting a lot of schtick from other skaters, but after the guys we were skating with started heckling people not wearing one when we were at a session spot, etc.....the general skate community doesn't pay out anymore...

...plus we seem to draw less heat from the cops than we did previously (not wearing a helmet.)

100%, no exceptions. I always keep my helmet right next to my board, so whether it's taking out the trash, or bombing a hill, I'll always toss it on.

My friend told me i'll "get made fun of" for wearing a helmet. I told him I'd make fun of him when he gets a concussion or goes into a coma.

But i do wenever it's necessary, garaging, DH, sliding, anything going faster than 10-12mph. If people don't wear helmets walking then i don't really need one going at walking pace.

I only wear mine at night or when I'm trying something new, but that's mostly because it's a big goofy-looking bike helmet that pinches my neck. When my Tillman helmet gets here, I'll wear it all the time.

you have 4 fully set up boards, and no helmet. i know what you mean, when i had my first longboard, i didnt have a helmet for 1.5 years. but then i started going faster, and faster, and when i fell, i counted my blessing. i didnt want to have one of those wake up in the hospital experiences. i found i was cutting myself off from some more fun aspects of skating by not having protective gear to fall back on when the #### hit the fan. lets just say, i have seen a lot of random falls. one time at 3am, holding a shovel, and it was snowing lightly. otangs dont grip when its snowing... ever...

just tilman one, and be on the safe side. its worth wearing a plastic and foam hat only when skating to prevent you needing one when just walking (i you can walk. i had a freind become paralyzed on his left side when he fell and hit is head while Motherf### Walking!?! why take a chance. no i am not a helmet nazi, its just i have seen the worst happen, and dont want to happen to me, so i take that simple precaution.

I always wear my helmet pretty much. On a rare occasion I might go maybe a block or 2 without it. I feel weird riding without it.

I don't wear a helmet when I'm cruising over to 7-11 or around town. I don't wear one when I'm street skating . Other than that I always have a helmet on.

Like I said somewhere else, you can have the greatest equipment in the world but it does you no good if you have mush for a brain............a helmet can prevent that.
