Full face helmet - What to get?
Currently I have been getting into DH to a point where I need a much more comfortable full face that preferably has a visor. Currently I have a Fox racing full face that I picked up from a friend and it has been decent and has done the job but the lack of visor and weight of it has been bugging me for some time now and I feel like it is time for some change.
Any Idea's of good brands I could look into or maybe even specific models?
Not looking to go that TOO pricy but if you think its good and worth the money doesn't hurt to share your opinion.
Links are appreciated along with names!

Re: Full face helmet - What to get?
I actually like both of those helmets but the only thing would be is I'm really looking for one with a visor, any Ideas on maybe how to install on on the helmet?

Re: Full face helmet - What to get?
most visored helmets are for motorcycling which are heavy and not reccomendable for longboarding, Paragliding helmets are popular but they do not protect your head as well as basically every other fullface, i'd go for the bell drop, even though it does not have a visor, is double certified, i do not know what the other certification is for but it is good for donwhill biking. Also the bell drop can easily be modded to have a visor with a charly visor. you could also check out the predaotr longboard specific helmets that haven't been released yet they seem solid. Azonics are pretty solid as well.
Rough price estimates, correct me if i'm wrong.
Paragliding helmets, e.g Charly, skyrunner, 350+
Predator helmets 250+?
Bell Drop 70+
Azonics(no visor) 70+
a Charly visor would be 70 as well

Is this what you're talking about? If so I defiantly like it and not sure about it being 80 but either way thats not too expensive and pretty nice looking as well.

Re: Full face helmet - What to get?
Piedogger, here on silverfish, makes bell drop visors, really nice ones i've heard. I'm saving the dough to buy one right now. Pm him, he sells them for 35$ each.
Edit: and this isn't a simple cut up piece of plastic, he does a visor mold. it flips up and down also.

Re: Full face helmet - What to get?
those will be bigger and heavier than the bell and 661 motocross helmets. less visibilty as well.
get a 661 and make a visor. thats your best bet.

It's DOT and SNELL certified, fits real comfortable.
Like others are saying not the absolute lightest option, but I wouldn't call it uncomfortably heavy.

Re: Full face helmet - What to get?
id say its more of the visibility issue more than the safety issue. both will be safe. one safer and the other will have a better visibility factor

personally i got a nitro which is dope as hell if you ask me it was 120 aussie dollars and works a charm

true, motorcycle ones do obscure your peripheral vision a bit, so if your not completely comfortable on the board it might be bad. But, I wasn't saying either was an inherently"better" choice. There's trade off to everything.

Re: Full face helmet - What to get?
I held a motorcycle helmet once, not sure which one, that belonged to a guy I skate with a few times. You could work out with the thing it was so heavy (exageration, yeah). But anyways, with a helmet that weights 7+ pounds you have to consider the comfort while riding factor, your neck supporting all that weight while tucking, but even more importantly the momentum gained in a fall. If you fall and slam your head with a heavy helmet like that the impact will be even more powerful. So you gotta ask, how often are you really going faster then 45mph to justify the "added" protection?
I have the charly no limit, 661 full comp and have tried out the bell drop. I once took a hard fall at about 35, maybe a little over but probably not 40 right onto the back of my head in my 661 full comp. There were some deep gashes on the outer shell of the helmet, but I suffered no head or neck inuries. Its a light weight helmet with good visibility but has a really ugly shape and doesnt fit the charly visor.
In my opinion for speed up to 50mph and probably even over, the Drop is 100% the best option. People have taken hits in the Paragliding helmets at higher speed and turned out OK. Its light weight, has good visibility, looks nice, fits charly visors well and is very widely used in the scene. Plus its very affordable.
Ive also crashed my charly helmet as well, but still wear it. Partly because theres no noticable damage to the helmet, and I really dont push my skating past 35 or so for the time being. Ill be getting the bell drop before long no doubt.
If you do go with the drop, keep in mind it fits a little big. Most people find the Medium is a perfect fit, especially if you wear a Large size in other helmets.
Skaters gonna skate.

Re: Full face helmet - What to get?
Bell drop is the shiznitz! Safe, light and easy to make a visro. I did mine with 1mm polycarbonate and some industrial velcro in about 30 minutes. Flips up and down and makes me pimp.

Much, MUCH more padding than a paragliding helmet. I ditched my para to ride this because it's waay safer having hit my head a couple times recently.
