    Default sliding gloves

ok so i finally made my own pair of sliding gloves, i'm hoping they'll turn out alright. anyone else got their own homemade or storebought pairs?

oh right, are there any design issues i might have with these?
i used very thin cutting board inside of the glove, since me and my friend both agreed that wood could splinter and wreak havok on the hands. aside from that i shaped them to really fit inside the glove and give my hand the most movement possible, plus to be smooth. no glue on the outside pad and glove though, i wanna be able to take them off or interchange with new pads if the something happens to the glove.

the top right is the outside pad....bottom is the piece that fits inside the glove....and the gloves are really big on me, so they're not as small as they look. right hand glove is complete, and the left hand pads are next to it so you can see the bits

and yeah....it took me around an hour to shape and sand both sides down, but i'm thinking it's worth it.

    Looking good Arie!

My sliding gloves are now little more than threads holding the plastic. DON'T buy cheap gardeners gloves, they are **** quality.

    good god

it takes me and my friend about 15 minutes to make 4 gloves.

we just cut palm sized squares out of 1/2'' cutting board then melt one side with a blow torch and squish them to the outside of the glove

why do you have a pad on the inside? I don't understand.

heh yeah but that's the first time i made em...plus i did pretty much everything on my own *father was hanging around since his shop is a maze for finding stuff...plus he wanted to see what i was doing* now that i have these down though, i could crank out more pairs pretty easily too...

why the plastic on the inside? well, i wanted to be able to take them off the glove *i like options =p* plus i got my general idea for the gloves from here, so i just changed the shapes of the nylon pieces around to make it more conforming.

heh, it takes me a while to cut, cut some more, file, sand, and drill thru all that =p

Your gloves look nice! Very well done and much prettier than mine.

I'll snap a picture of the sliding gloves I've got. Boy are they something to look at (ugly wise) but they do the job very well.
I have my plastic both glued on (shoe goo) and it is also screwed on with small 1/4 or 3/8" screws threw the gloves.

Speaking of plastic, I just picked up a big sheet of umwh plastic today. Its a large cutting board, but super high quality. I can't wait for all the sliding gloves its going to help make! [/code]

Replaceable pucks are good; which is why I use velcro and gorrilla snot. You can set up a few replacements when you make the first set, and then you don't have to mess with the glue for a long time.

It's also a heavy duty glue. But don't get the two confused, or you'll have a Fender Medium attached to your thumb for a good long time!

Isn't there a difference between Gorilla Glue and Gorilla Snot?

The snot I know of is sold in the music stores.

    Okay...
"Gorilla Snot" in reference to glue is a nickname; a.k.a. Elephant Snot. (Thank you Uncle Sam's Canoe Club for such lovely coloquialisms. )
Gorilla Snot tm is found in music stores.
Gorilla Glue tm is a wood glue (goes on dark, drys almost clear, supposed to be tough stuff, costs double what Elmer's does).

to the best of my knowledge

Would rather be at SIA, sellin' Bear Paws.
I'll definately let you know, though. And this year, I'll pack a mini-quiver; regardless.
