Default Wear a helmet, save a life

I just have to say after today im never riding without my helmet again. SLCMunchie and i were pullin some sweet slides and i lost control on one of mine (couldn't get the nose to come back around), and ended up bailing into a rain run off on the side of the road about 2 feet deep. My head Slammed into a boulder on the side of the mountain. I can safely say that without my helmet i would be in the emergency room right now if not worse. Thanks to my helmet and other pads i emerged with a sore neck and shoulders, and a wicked headache, but no serious injuries. Thanks Pro-tec.

wow that sounds bad.. definitely good you had your helmet on. I hung out with my friend tonite who broke his forearm skating with no pads. He's still in pain and has this rod in his arm. Man you never know what could happen.

Yeah, you never know. Last night I was rolling into the bowl for about the 100th time and I hung up!

I'm like "SCREEEECH!!! SUPERMAN!!! WTF? -- I never hang up on that roll in! SPLAT!!! CRUNCH!!!"

Guess what? My right rear axle nut had spun off, and I lost a wheel! You never know -- the sk8 goddess is a capricious bi+ch.

Thanks to pads & helmet, only my plastic exoskeleton sustained any damage... bad scrapes on the wrist guards, helmet & knee pads. If I was not wearing the pro, I would be one sorry bro.

I didn't "need" my pads any other time during a 4.5 hour session, but when my number came up, I was prepared. Nobody looks cool with blood coming out their ears...

Yea...you guys are right, and before anyone say's(and they always do) "but they didn't wear helmets and pads in the dogtown era". Go to www.zboys.com and see for yourself before you post that comment.

Great story! Glad you're alive to write it! Now go out and buy a NEW helmet, 'cause yours is no good anymore! Those brain buckets are only good for one good shot, so get a fresh one.

I fell the other day with no pads on. I had been riding the whole day with pads and then go out and forgot the pads and didn't bother to get the pads. So me and my friend are going down this hill and halfway down there's this roped off road that I didn't know my friend was going to go into. He cut me off and started to foot break. I thought we were going straight so i was going way too fast to foot brake. So right when I'm about to hit the rope I jump over it. take about 3 steps and safely fling myself into the air and onto the grass/dirt. My foot felt a little weird and I overreacted to make my friend feel bad but I was able to keep skating.

I hate how I always fall when I'm not wearing my pads...

When your dealin with whether to wear pads or not, you just gotta know what your comfortable with. Wear whatcha need when you need it, but it's just not the same feelin when your strapped into armour. Also, the clothing you happen to have no matters alot, a studded belt and jeans can save you plenty of skin.
