its too bad kids nowadays feel like nerd wearing a helmit but dont realize how it can save u a trip to the hospital. neway, where do u ride in brooklyn? i live ion bay ridge and there aren't many spots at all over here

I had a similar crash the other day. I didn't think I would have a hard fall sliding, but I was going backside, caugh my feet and flipped on to my back. Luckily I was wearing my helmet so I only got minor road rash on my lower back. I did hit my head on the pavement though.

I am sorry, but Silverfish is too focused on wearing helmets and pads all the time. I will definitely throw my helmet on if I feel like I am going to be pushing my limits or doing something that would require one, but I have been riding the past several months without one and havent had a problem. Even when I never wore one, I only hit my head once which was 100% avoidable.

A friend of my wifes died about a 2 years ago.
At barely more than jogging speed.

freak accident? Yes.

the only time I've ever hit my head was due to a tiny trickle of water I didn't see.

when i was into sliding that happened a few times.

ive also hit my head a number of other times, although never without a helmet...

agent, i see where you're coming from, i rode beginner dh for over a year without a helmet and didn't ever smack my head. now i rock leathers and a fullface. i still haven't hit my head hard. but it's a FACT that you can be going 2mph and hit you head in the right spot and f*ckin die. imagine what's up at 30-40-50-60 mph!! wear yo gear for the people who care about you and so you can skate for a long time!!

Well I've been skateboarding for about 13 years and have only hit my head twice. Trust me, having a head ache for a week straight is not something you want.

I live in Yonkers on the Bronxville line. Fortunately there's a nice .25 mile steep hill right out my front door, so I do most of my riding around here. I'd like to skate with someone beside myself, though.
