I don't know if you have Utrecht or Blick (art stores) up there but most serious art shops should carry lexan in the desired thicknesses. Architecture (amongst other) students use it quite often, so that would be a good bet.
last time i was at the home hardware on 16th ave they had some, but this was like 3+ months ago forsure, if you find some send me a message on calgary skate (im lucas btw) cuz im going to have to do this in the next 2 weeks or so haha

You must mean the Home Depot on 16th ave, there is no home hardware here.

same difference, but I went back there like 2 weeks ago and they didnt have any, so i bought some other stuff that they said was unshatterable, well as i was cutting it it exploded into 1000 billion pieces. i think im going to try crystal glass in bowness for some lexan or something
you can buy some window tint and it will will come with a squeegee and enough tint for like 10 visors! i dont know where to get it though. my parents got it for the windows in the house. maybe home depot though. i'll ask later if anyone cares enough.

that would be sick. I'm trying to make a face visor but it doesnt looks as sick without the tint.

Does anyone have any experience making these out of thicker polycarb by using heat? I'm interested in making a thicker one that'll stay bent in place you know?
I remember reading something about heating it up in the oven and then dropping it over your helmet, anyone got any info?

you can get it from home depot or lowes. my mom says it was like $25 dollars. but i think she bought the expensive one. theres different kinds that do different things. just go check it out.
Max, my shield keeps on foggin up. is there any way to fix it?
A few tricks divers use to stop their masks from fogging up (all methods applied to the inside of the visor/mask):
Spit on the visor, rub it in, rinse with water without rubbing. ( a thin layer of starch from your spit will remain on the visor that prevents fogging.)
Toothpaste, soap, shaving cream, shampoo... rub it in, rinse with water without rubbing. (a strong minty toothpaste might burn a bit in your eyes.)
Anti Fog drops, available in most sports shops and all dive shops.
All methods work well for a few hours but arent permenant solutions and will have to be repeated regularly.
A permanent solution that also works well is using a double visor. (2 visors above each other leaving a small gap in between. The visor fogs up mainly because of the temperature difference between both sides of the visor, warm inside cause of body heat and cool outside cause of weather, wind chill. This will make the temp of the visor lower than the air temp in the helmet so the humidity in the air will condense on the visor and fog up. So with 2 Visors the inner visor will have the same temp on both sides and not fog up, since both sides are inside the helmet. Why the inside of the outer visor doesnt fog up I dont know but it works really well with my ski goggles.)
My ski goggles have an outer "visor" that would be like the one presented here and a slightly smaller visor glued to the inside with some foam paddings to keep the distance (visor, glue, foam padding, glue, visor).
Another method but not really a do it your self solution is good ventilation.
One more thing that might not apply to home made visors: A new dive mask always fogs up a lot more than an old one because a layer of something is on the mask after production. A new mask should always be scrubbed and cleaned (with a non abrasive cloth) on the inside before first use.
Hope this helps.

for anyone who lives in the bay area around san jose heres a good store which has lexan which is the same as polycarbonate at the right thickness for 4 bucks djhobby.com - "IF IT'S FUN WE GOT IT" ( search lexan and ul find it)
Alright I got some 1/16" clear lexan from a plastic place. First off, this #### was too thick to meant to be cut with scissors, but I got it to anyways. I cut out the plastic in the shape of the template of my helmet, but it was all jagged so I got a dremmel tool to shave it down. Well shaving the plastic put billions upon billions of little plastic dust particles into my garage and all over me and in my eyes, was not fun. It also doesnt bend very well. The plastic should probably be thinner than 1/16, and 1/32 like the OP says. After I FINALLY got my visor cut out and fit into my helmet (which still looks half ass btw), I tried the tinting. I got some auto tint from auto zone. Well I just cant get it to go onto the visor with a clean result. Theres maaaaad bubbles every where and I cant smooth them out no matter how I try they just wont go away. So I think Im givin up on this face shield, Im not cutting out anymore plastic of this lexan material and the tint is pissin me off. Anyone wanna make a face shielf for my 661 full comp? Ill pay. Or know where I can get a professionaly made faceshield thats tinted online thatll fit my 661 helmet?
im too cheap and lazy to go by polycarbonate or lexan. i just cut up a 2 liter pop bottle and it worked fine it was pretty clear and doesnt fog up that easily.

I think thats what Im gonna have to do. Did you tint your face shield? Ive been able to cut and form my faceshielf to fit inside the helmet, but im having a bitch of a time tinting it. I was able to apply the tint without barely any bubbles, but upon forming it to fit in my helmet it developed long vertical pockets in the tint, ruining the job. Fed up with it at this point.
alright so i did my azonic fury with this face sheild
put one of those reflective window tints thats supposed to be good for heat or something
becareful when you unpeel the tint, if it adheres unto its self its damn annoying
make sure you have your tint be bigger than the actual face sheild, it makes putting it on a lot easier
it works pretty well
however i tend to breathe through the mouth in a tuck so it fogs a little
any solutions?
other than breathe though nose
