Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
Ugh, the shower is always horrible. For a couple of days, too.
Make sure you don't shoot your eye out.

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
lol your left arm looks kinda like mine and your back looks like my friend's.
I hate the post-injury shower too, but I rarely get a deep wound. Who knows why it stings SO bad?

why do you have a gun when you skate?

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
That post road-rash shower always sucks. Then the next sucking is when your skin starts to regrow and it itches like no other.

I hope you don't sleep on your back...

I don't wear the gun when I skate; I was getting ready to go to work. I do, however, have a nice cellphone-shaped hole in my cargo pocket now. The phone still works though, thankfully.

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
I used to tear myself up Off road biking. It never seemed to hurt that much at the moment,,, except the time I ran into a tree. Later when it was healing came the pain
Mucho neosporin and some advil for the inflamation

It's because the majority of the body's pain sensing neurons are withing a half centimeter of the skin surface, which is why road rash or a light burn hurts a lot worse than getting cut deep.

Ouch, I don't think that I've ever hit the pavement and came up that bad. My advice is the same as a post a few up: Neosporin.
That stuff works wonders. Heals you up quicker so you can get out boardin' sooner!

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
Buy the kind of bandages that you can put on and leave on for like a week. There are several brands out there and the concept is that it keeps the road rash from drying out and scabbing over. The bandages have a gel in them that absorbs any goo coming out of your skin and lets some evaporate out but no germs can get back in through the gel to cause infection. I crashed at 31.5mph on claremont and had pretty bad rash on my arm and hip and when i took the bandages off a week later i had brand new skin! it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen. so...don't let it scab. read the directions on the packages (most say just wash the wound and don't put any ointments at all).

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
I hate it when your road rash sticks to your clothes and it hurts to seperate it
Buy some second skin at the store and treat it like a 3rd degree burn
Muhahahaha!

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
it's weird how it doesn't really hurt right after you fall. must be all that adrenaline. that shower is a killer though!
right now my ass looks like your back. i wasn't wearing any protective gear at all
so why shouldn't you let it scab over? i generally don't use any band-aids, neosporin, or advil. i just let it run it's course... ever since i had my appendix out earlier this year, i have a really high pain tolerance
i was reading in some fitness magazine that if you workout your cuts will heal 10-14 days faster. if you eat well, get enough protein, take vitamins, and get plenty of sleep you'd be surprised how well your body functions. in about a week my worst roadrash is completely healed w/o doing anyhting to the wounds. i just let em scab over... chicks dig scars anyway lol

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
We call it the "Shower of Truth" and it is never fun.
I have a set of sheets that I use for the first couple of days of road rash. Ruining a set of sheets by pulling them off your oozing scrapes in the morning sucks.

Exact same bandages i use. They work wonders and are really comfortable.

Re: I just had a real nice post-roadrash shower.
have you guys every tried liquid bandages or new skin? it's practically super glue that you kinda paint on your cuts. stings a little bit at first, but then it adds a nice layer of protection. add a few coats and you can't really feel much at all. it's water proof and just wears off naturally in about a week or so. plus it's clear so you can still show off your battle wounds
i dunno how well it would work for large cuts, but i put some on my hand so that i could workout. seems to be holdin up well. much less of a hassle than bandaids

I'm not a doctor. But that's the recent technique for fastest healing wounds with the least scaring. Just put "treating road rash" into google and read all the advice and first hand experiences (many from cyclists).

Because he wants us to see it.
