Default nice, somewhat cheap full face...

http://www.jcwhitney.com/webapp/wcs/...X&appId=106700

today after some very aggravating shopping, and insane prices on crappy helmets, i decided i'd look online. i found this helmet today, at a cheap price (compaired to the $67 Bell BMX helmet i found this morning) and decided i'd take my chances with it's weight and what not for speedboarding. it looks alot sleeker than the BMX helmets and hopefully a little more aerodynamic. it should be here in about a week. just in time for the trip out to NY. anyone got any comments or suggestions on this helmet? pros and cons?

looks good. if you buttboard you will have trouble seeing with such a thick chin guard. and its going to be hot without vents but i mean you go down the hill you take it off so who cares... hope it fits ok.

it's 'triple vented' and if i plan on doing any bombing where i need it, i'm wearing a leather coat so being hot is just something im gonna have to deal with...which for it's purpose makes it all worth the while. i was more concerned about weight and visibility... i just wanna be able to turn and look for traffic if i have to.

You'd need to take the visor off or else you'd be blind.

yeah those visors don't really do sh!t but get in the way, and they kinda look goofy in my opinion. it's a cool looking helmet though, i like the chin on it.

the gurds are there to keep little pebbles and rocks outta your eyes as well as dust for bmx and mtx. for standup it is all but useless becuase your head is so far from the ground.

Isn't your head closer to the ground in a tuck than it would be on a BMX, especially since BMX riders tend to ride standing up on the pedals a lot?

The question is, if you compete in speedboard, this helmet wouldn't be ideal, and chances are, a standard full face won't cut it well either. You'd need a helmet that all the other pro's use to really push it.

The helmet with the visor is used by longboarders I have seen riding. It won't make squat of a difference in your riding, and it's not like you need to look up anyways and the visor will keep the high sun out of your eyes if nothing else.

Who cares? Seriously, it's a minor detail, and since I don't think you are a pro speedboarder (correct me if I am wrong) a helmet choice isn't a big deal.

well alst time i was at the track, the track seemed to be super hardpacked, and watered down quite often. now enough of that. i like the first helmet myself, because the chin is more tucked in than the 2nd. would that affect visibility at all?

So what difference would it make if a speedboarder road it on asphalt? There is more crap on roads than in the middle of a skatepark. Stick a set of goggles on that helmet and you'd be rocking.

As I said before though, it'll make #### all difference using that helmet over a full face with visor. You still will have high speed impact protection, much better than a skate helmet. If it's cheaper, I say go for it.

i got the full face in the mail today, and she is a beauty. lightweight, fits perfect, great visibility, and looks great (makes my head look overly large a little...but that's cool). i'll put it to the test when i head to NY this month. i'm happy though, great quality for the price. here's a little snap shot i took of it.
