Default Crash Pads 2500 Padded Shorts

2, no wait 3 weeks into longboarding after 20 years or so break...
After slamming on the concrete a couple of times I realized that I could not follow the same path I did with snowboarding, just suck it up, Concrete is way harder than snow, and my bones ain't getting any younger.

I ordered the Crash Pads 2500 from (Protective Gear and Safety Products for Action Sports - XSportsProtective reading very positive feedback about them around the web and on silverfish. Asked if I could get the free shipping on that product and got a nice email from the sales rep sayin that yes I could, thank you XportProtective.

The shorts are made of pretty thick black spandex, the padding feels as solid as a tough sleeping pad and it's well placed in the "hit" areas, I only wish I had those before I tried my first drop in with a longboard.
sewed together with a single thread they look pretty solid and durable, totally invisible under comfy pants or shorts, the pad on your taill bone has a plastic reinforcment inside, they don't constrain your movement at all and actually are very comfortable.
I tried a couple of falls on my driveway and they do work absorbing the blunt of the fall, that means you still feel it but it doesn't hurt as bad, especially if you don't have a lot of 'natural padding" (fat) as I do, I am sure they will give me more confidence to just "go for it" and try harder, and they look perfect for those icy snowboarding days, even if I fall rarely on that kind of board.
All in all I'm very happy, safety and pain avoidance are crucial in learning and having fun doing sports like park skating or downhill

I think of buying one of those everytime I touch my left hip ouch!!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, cold beer in one hand - longboard in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, Yeaa Haaa What A Ride!!!

I asked the guys at XSports, they confirmed what I thought, major differences in the material used and padding. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I'm right across the bridge from you, in Redwood City but work in San Jose. Maybe this weekend we can hit a garage or test our fate against some hills. Too bad these shorts won't be in before then though...

The sette shorts are sweet. My flatmate has a pair and I've worn some for DH mtb when they came out (tore the #### out of them eventually). My only complaint is they hold sweat really well! ahahaha

Btw, these Sette shorts came in.

I'm surprised really. I think they're a pretty good buy actually. The quality isn't half bad.

Lol I'm pretty sure I'm not going to fall on my ass now that I 'm padded, but I felt much more confident last time..they do help mentally so far.
