Possibly bad medical things going on, why?

Ive had my share of concussions but have always recovered nicely. Ive had what my doctors assumed were muscle spasms in my right arm for a little over a year now and over the past few weeks they have been happening a lot. Just about every minute or two and instead of just my arm its my whole upper body including my head. its not like a seizure, its just like every muscle tightens up for a second then its done.

I do have the ability to hold them back, but then i get a terrible feeling, like when you have to sneeze badly. thats the only way i know how to explain it.

Im not really sure what im asking but im getting really worried about whats happening. When the twitches happened before going out and skating actually calmed me down and i haven't really skated in over a week. When i do skate i always wear a helmet.

I will be going to the hospital within the next day or two but its getting bad enough that i cant wait so i figured id post here. I just want to know what it could be because its getting bad to the point were my friends have actually said they noticed it getting worse.

Yeah man, I hope it's nothing too serious. To be honest, it kind of sounds like Tourettes Syndrome, and it sounds like you could be experiencing tics. I doubt that's the issue though.

Ive heard from a lot of people thatt it doesa seem like tourettes. not goinggg to ER tonight cause i dontn want them to just give me meds and send me off, i have an appointment for tomorrow. Hoepfully this ww lwont affect skating.

Check for lyme disease

Boarderkaos.. If you feel up to it, research it on the internet.. Search Tourettes symptoms etc... But seeing a doctor tomorrow w/ an appointment, it far wiser than bopping into ER tonight, as long as you're up to the wait. Good luck brutha keep us posted!!!

Best advice for this situation. Lyme disease did similar things to me, but it was accompanied by debilitating join pain. May be a personal question, but adderall, amphetamines or other such drugs can cause tourettes-like symptoms as well. See a pro as fast as you can because something like that could be anything from nothing to very serious, like tumor/clot serious. Dont freak out tho.

if it was lyme disease you would be dead by now i think. in more pain, regardless.

pinched nerve, brain tumour.... mini stroke even.

a guy i work with has a similar problem with his shoulder, and its a pinched nerve.

+1 ask a pro.

Tourettes is highly unlikely at this late stage and without other comorbid behavioral or otherwise changes...

Nervous damage is likely, but again doesn't explain the worsening of the condition. Full upper body spasms (hypertonality) are still possible. What you're describing is consistent with either Cerebral issues or ventral spinal issues. SEE A SPECIALIST.

Scaring, not helping - Lyme disease is not terminal... get checked and hang in there.

getting an MRI may not be a bad idea. Every time you get a concussion the next one comes that much easier. This can sometimes cause some damage to nerves and the like. I'm no physician, but getting thoroughly checked by one would be wise. Also don't go to the ER, you'll be there all day. Make an appointment to get an MRI and to see a neurologist. He'll tell you what's up and hopefully they can tell you what the hell is wrong with you.
