I usually don't but I should. When the pain gets really bad I have a few ankle brace type things that my girl has bought at the drug store. I may have to look into the Pro Socks you mentioned A.J.
When I was five me and a moving car had an altercation. The car won. Tendons, skin, bones all trashed. Doesn't help that I was re injured a while back cruising around town and another car decided to run me over. I'm goofy so the whole left foot busted thing really sucks for any distance.

I've just been taking it easy on my ankle, but yesterday my friend and I did a 12 mile ride and I woke up today and had no ankle pain
well, except from practicing apple juices and landing on my wheel and it hitting the corner on my board.
I think I'll be okay with just doing stretches.

MikeNike605 is right. The TriLok is definetely a good choice. I like it because it fits in my shoe, is super comfortable, and I don't have to worry about twisting my ankle or favoring the other too much. I think you can buy them online at trilokanklebrace.com but you might be able to get a prescription for one through your doctor so that you don't have to pay much out of pocket. Good luck!

I had this same thing happen when I started 3 months ago.
Slowly as I let it heal for a day or so after I ride hard (like 3+ hours)
Its getting better I dont think THe muscles used for pushing were
used as hard as I was making them go since I never boarded before

As in most Action sports, its a good idea to develop a technique that is natural and prevents injury. Abnormal stresses on body parts can cause a lot of pain an screw you up later in life.

Broke my ankle a few months ago, picked up a Mcdavid Ultralite brace to keep my ish supported while I get back at it. Works good enough for me, keeps everything nice and supported, comfortable, fits in mid/high-tops fine... no complaints.

Protective gear kinda sucks but being hurt sucks way more.
