Aussie that is a bummer. Were you wearing a helmet, if so what kind? How long were you unconcious for and how much do you not remember. Also, did they give a CT scan?
At the moment im recovering from a fractured collar bone. Its been about 3 and a half weeks since it happened and its fully moveable. However there is still some soreness, especially after waking up in the morning. Anyone else also broken there clavical? How long did it take you to completly heal and feel comfortable skating beyond the casual skating?

I sprained my neck on saturday, while doing a huge pendy down the local cheeesegrater slide surface... still not up to full mobility. I'd love to go skating tonight but I still have shooting pains and there's still a spasm in my neck.
A few more days, or less, I hope. I really need to let this one heal before thrashing again because my neck is already screwy as it is....
^ That knee is gnarly! Guess I'll post my swollen, hairy knee from earlier this month.
April 1st I fell at the skatepark doing ledge hops off a grind rail when my old Vans (the ones with no grip, and now a huge tear and hole in them) slipped and I went down first crushing the top of my foot across the bar, scraped and bruised my shin on the way down and landed on the blacktop on my knee, tearing the right leg of my parts 50% of the way off, and bruising my hands. Cruised around for a while after but I was done doing anything else that night. Could have been much worse though. Made it hard as **** to walk for about a week, but I was back at it after not too long of a break. Swelled up even more the next morning (pic is right after I got home and got those jeans off) and turned a deep purple. I should have taken a picture then too, but honestly I didn't feel like it at the time since it was so stiff photos just weren't on my mind. Healed almost completely now though, and recently stopped making crunchy sounds and feels only mildly painful to the touch when you poke it now. Good as new! Sorta.

just read this thread, makes me feel far less shitty. gnarly as hell what you went through man, best of luck healing up.
as for me, i broke my femur snowboarding. my first ####### broken bone is from snowboarding and not skating. I now have a metal rod holding my leg together that'll be there for the rest of my life (airports are gonna be fun).
moral of the story, i've spent the last 2 months re-learning how to use my leg (massive muscle trauma = no fun), from bending it to walking, to everything we take for granted with legs. had a small fall 2 weekends ago, and discovered that my leg muscles are incredibly sensitive to the slightest bad movement. so i've spent the last 2 weeks re-relearning how to walk.
I've realized that because of the extreme sensitivity of my muscles, until I can stumble/fall like a normal person, and just get back up instead of being incapacitated for ~1 week, i can't do anything remotely troublesome.
hooray. no skating and no anything make georges go something something...

thanks for the good wishes and good luck to you too.
i've got a decent amount of metal too but i think the titanium doesn't set off the detectors. i too hate how every little tweak just feels like getting stabbed and its almost depressing me too not being able to do ANYTHING physical except eat and shi t. hopefully next year will be a good year for us man. have fun with rehab, hopefully you get a hot therapist.

definitely no hot therapist
and yeah, i feel you with the every little tweak hurts, it sucks not to be able to do anything remotely fun for fear of hurting yourself, although for u im sure it's a lotttt more serious. when do you start rehab?
i'm still optimistic/crossing my fingers that I can be healed by the end of the summer, then train my balls off to get back into shape. hopefully we'll get to race/skate next year, i wanna make it to rado one of these days!

i'm still stuck in a brace. i've gotta put that stupid thing on before i even get out of bed. i fricken hate it. not even thinking about rehab for another couple months though. its not gonna be until next year that i can get back on a board and thats depressing. i'm sure we'll get to skate, i wanna make it to as many races and outlaws as possible next year.

Im stoked for all the optimism going on in this thread even after heavy injruies. Ive only gotten some minor broken bones and a concussion, and I skate light on our weekly garage sessions, havnt done any DH because I want my down time minimal and dont want to make my injury worse. What has effected my attitude is the cost of getting treatment! What kind of coverage do you guys that have had treatment at hospitals and get therapy have? How much is that coverage helping out because knowing the treatment that Ive gotten and how expensive it was, im sure the extensive treatment is costing a huge amount. Exactly what type of coverage does someone in our sport look for and do you get it privately, or through your employer?

I've had no insurance coverage for about 3 months now. Have it now again, but will lose it when I turn 25. I can't afford it on my own.

If I were still a full time student I could get coverage still, i had it when I needed surgery on my wrist to remove a cist and it really really helped. A lot. I wanna get some decent coerage but I dont know what it would be, health insurance, accident insurance, or maybe personal injury? Im not sure of any companies that are good to go with and im sure that differs by region, does anyone have any experience in this area? D-dub i know how you feel man, I got a CT scan for a concussion I had and it came out to be super, super expensive.
Yeah I'm recoving from an auto accident. This guy t bone me, gave my car air, landed on its passenger side, and slide over 30 ft. Im okay just really bored. This week is the nicest its been in Reno. Just my luck!!!

for me, i'm just gonna look for one that doesn't cover normal routine doctor visits but rather, a company that will cover whenever i get injured, like stitches and broken bones. shitty thing is that going most outside companies have a pretty high deductible. something to think about.

Thankfully I was still on my mom's health insurance (less than 24 yrs old), so i'm only out a couple k from the deductible. do you know what 2 nights in the hospital cost? this is not counting the surgery and ####. thirty-four thousand.
that #### is wack!!!
but i'm in the same boat as you, my mom's company is having layoffs, and regardless i'm soon turning 24, so i gots to find some good health insurance. i currently get free health insurance from my school, but it's the type of coveage that's good for checkups, normal doctor stuff. they seem bitchier about going to outside hospitals, higher deductible, etc etc. not worrying about it yet, but in a few months i need to get shoppin for some good health insurance too hurting yourself makes you realize just how expensive healthcare is =/
